good vacation for a just turned one year old? not like a sesame place

we want to plan a 4-5 day vacation--something within a few hours driving time. we don't want to do a theme park because DS isn't ready for that yet--he just turned one and started walking.

we were thinking like lake george or something like that. anyone have any recs?

we just want someplace relaxing with things to do, but nothing over the topChat Icon

We stayed at The Equinox Resort in Manchester, VT last year right after DD's 1st b-day. They have an indoor pool, a playground, etc...It's a cute town. I would definitely go back. It's about 4 hours away.

There is also Mohonk Mountain House in Purchase NY that is supposed to be great, but I haven't been. It's on my list! Chat Icon

When DD had just turned 1 last summer, we went to Maine. It was the BEST vacation. We stayed in the area of Ogunquit, which is about 5 hrs away - don't know if that's too far for you. We loved it so much, actually, that we booked again for this year and we'll be going in August!! Chat Icon

We always go to this part of Maine and love it. Wells and York are also near there and they are also really nice. We went when my DS was 6 months, and 10 months. Then after my DD was born we went when she was 6 months and my DS was 18 months. We are going again for a week in August and my DC will be 22 months and 9 months. We rented a Cottage in Wells. I can't wait I really recommend this part of Maine.

I say head to good old Washington DC and come and visit me Chat Icon

In all seriousness, Old Town Alexandria is so pretty and cute shops/restaurants and you can take a boat tour or just walk around and then of course meet me out for dinner one night..but no pressure!!!!!! Lol!!

I'm jealous...a getaway sounds like so much fun!

Hey girl! DH and I are planning on going to Baltimore with Mason this Fall. Heard lots of great things about the area. Also, my friend just got back from Lake George with her 3 year old and had a great time. Also, camping could be fun.

DD is just about 5 months, but we recently took a few days and went to Cape May, NJ and we loved it. Great beaches, indoor and outdoor pool, cute shopping, good food... we enjoyed it and I think with a 1 yr old it would be great.

I heard Ocean City is really nice too

we went to ocean city nj two years ago and it was awesome! not a far ride by car. there are alot of hotels, motels right near the beach/boardwalk, and the boardwalk has tons of lil shops, food, lil amusement park with rides, miniature golf places, etc. there are some restaurants off the boardwalk that we walked to also. my dd wasnt here yet when we were there, but my older stepkids loved it. there were plenty of babies there, and it is a very family oriented place, i think it is a dry town, no liquor served in bars/restaurants, but if u want a drink, u can bring your own wine etc, and have it at your room/hotel if u like. the hotel we stayed with was right off thebaordwalk, and had an outdoor pool that was empty, the kids loved that! we never needed the car all week, and it was very relaxing and fun. the kids still talk about it, and we want to go back! hopefully next year!
