got my box of meds.... scared
Well, I was terrified when I first decided to do IVF this cycle. Then, I researched it and figured it wouldnt be too bad, just have to deal with needles for a few weeks.
Well, my box of meds came today. I expected it to be big, but not that big. Just the thought that all of that will be going into my body scares the sh** out of me. So many different medicines, different needles, pills. Im nervous Im not going to do it right.
I was reading the packet for all the side effects. Im so nervous. Did anyone have any real bad side effects to the meds??
Please tell me they gave me more needles than I will need...

Breathe.
They give you 5 times the needles you will need. I don't know why. Silly really.
The two side effects I had were fatigue and thirst.
Nothing more..

It's really not that bad. A lot of the needles are for getting the meds out of the vials and mixing. Not all of them will actually be injected to you - and all of the needles are very small until after you actually do the egg retrieval. Try not to stress it, you will get thru it and it won't be that bad - I promise!!!

I found that they did not have me use all the meds I got. Kind of like having some meds just in case they needed to change the course of my protocol mid-way.
I had bloating the first time and had head aches. This time around I don't feel nearly as bloated. No headaches either.

Don't stress too much. These meds are for the entire cycle not just for one night or one week. Good luck!!

i was PETRIFIED!!! After two times you will become a pro and it doesnt even hurt!!!! seriously! i was about to cancel my ivf cycle because i was sooo scared of the needles!@

It does seem very overwhelming, but you will never be taking all the meds at the same time. Just stay calm and take it one day (and one medicine) at a time! You'll be fine! Wishing you lots of luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

i just got my box of meds too and it is definitely overwhelming. but as the PP said, take it one shot at a time. it looks like a lot, but it's going to be spread out over four or so weeks.
I start my Lupron next Friday - when do you start?
We can go through it together!! we are all here for you

First, take a deep breath! It is overwhelming seeing all of the drugs and needles. Take everything one day at a time.
I had no bad reaction to any of the medications and they gave you a bunch more needles than you will use.

I only used half of what I got. I donated the rest to a fellow IFer from this board after my BFP. You will too.
