Got the results of my multiple miscarriage bloodwork
Well I had an appointment with Dr. Stelling yesterday about the results of my multiple miscarriage bloodwork. Turns out that I do have a clotting issue....I really dont know exactly what its called because after he told me all I heard was that charlie brown teachers voice But the weird thing is that he said he doesnt think the last 2 miscarriages were caused by it because this particular clotting issue is known to cause issues later in the pregnancy (the first m/c was at 7 weeks and the 2nd was a chemical).... so he suspects that my m/c's were too early to be a result of it. I'm grateful I had the bloodwork done and that they found it early on but last night I have to tell you I was really rattled. He said that he would have me take baby aspirin to control it. And then I think he said some sort of injectibles later on. Again I dont know if I got the whole story straight but this is what I could remember. Any advice?

Lisa, it's ok. I think you have the same thing Ihave, MTHFR, it's very common. I take baby aspirin and when I get the BFP, Lovenox shots (blood thinner).
You will be ok! It's better to know and go forward with the information! It will not prevent you from getting pregnant.

Re: Got the results of my multiple miscarriage bloodwork
I have a clotting disorder and took an aspirin when i was pregnant with DS and has no problems.
My SIL had a few miscarriages and they found out she also had a clotting disorder (don't remember the name) ans she took Lovenox (which is an injection) when she was pregnant and had no complications.

Re: Got the results of my multiple miscarriage bloodwork
I also have the MTHFR mutation and so i take baby aspirin and than add the lovenox when pregnant. It is apparently very common and treated frequently so I would not stress it too much, better to know for going forward! Best of luck

Re: Got the results of my multiple miscarriage bloodwork
Thank you girls so much for all your words of encouragement...I feel much better reading your answers I'm trying not to stress too much. I know now that I should be thankful they actually found the issue so it can be treated. And thanks Ann Marie for calling me to calm me down...I really needed that conversation. Love you

I have this, also. I take a baby aspirin every day and Folgard- which is just a higher dose of Folic acid and B-Vitamins.

Re: Got the results of my multiple miscarriage bloodwork
I have MTHFR and Factor V Leiden. I was happy when they found this since I had no real answers up until then. I take baby aspirin and will do lovenox after transfer/when pg.

Re: Got the results of my multiple miscarriage bloodwork
I have a protein S deficiency and have been taking lovenox the whole pregnancy. I started off with taking baby aspirin too but they took me off it around 7-8 weeks. I am almost 35 weeks now, so don't worry, lovenox does the job! Did Dr. Stelling refer to you to a hematologist?

Yes actually he did refer me to one. I normally go the West Islip office so he gave me a name closer to that area..I think it was Dr. Gladstone (or something that sounded like that)
