good question....

but since the White House uses the apostrophe (which represents possession) - i think you should leave it out and put "Seasons Greetings" Chat Icon

Re: grammar police - seasons greetings question...

you're actually supposed to have the apostrophe- it's a possesive.

"Season’s Greetings!" (i. e., greetings of the season)

i don't think most people notice, or care, either way though. Chat Icon

Re: grammar police - seasons greetings question...

I read somewhere it is “Season’s Greetings” if you are only referring to one holiday; “Seasons’ Greetings” if you are referring to the December holidays collectively.

Re: grammar police - seasons greetings question...

asking around the consensus from our family and friends is...

A fine point about possessives is that there is another type of possessive known as the genitive case. It is a little recognized case that shows neuter possession, or possession by something other than a person or an animal. And oddly enough, it doesn't take the form of the apostrophe and the s.
Strictly speaking, it's not the tree's bark but the bark of the tree, not the sun's rising but the rising of the sun, and not the court's order but the order of the court.
Few people are even aware of that, and it could scarcely be considered an egregious error to miss it, but it's a point worth knowing all the same.

so i guess "strictly speaking" it would be the greetings of the season, not seasons greetings, season's greetings, or seasons' greetings Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

i'm sticking with my original "wrong" version of seasons greetings Chat Icon

I think either way is accepted, but I would say

Season's greetings, as in greetings of the season
