Great Holiday Cookie Recipe - Hershey Kisses Peanut Butter Cookies!!
These are easy to make, delicious and a HUGE hit!!
Great for the upcoming Holidays - thought I'd share...
1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter 1/2 cup shortening 1 egg 1 1/2 cups flour 3/4 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon baking powder granulated sugar
3 dozen Hershey's chocolate kisses
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Mix ½ cup sugar, brown sugar, peanut butter, shortening, and egg thoroughly. Stir in flour, baking soda and baking powder.
3. Mold dough into 1-inch balls; roll in sugar (I put the granulated sugar in a bowl and roll the balls in the sugar)... Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
4. Bake until edges are light brown, 8 to 10 minutes.
5. Immediately press candy kisses firmly into each cookie. Try not to press them down too far - just enough for them to stick to the cookie and stay in the cookie -- too far down and they can start to melt. Once they have been out of the oven about a minute or two and the kisses are in there take a spatula and move them carefully (b/c they are still so warm) to a cool, flat tray/cookie sheet/rack/whatever -- the cool helps to keep the hershey kisses from melting too much. Let them cool for a LONG time - sometimes the kisses look like they are solid but they can still be mushy! ENJOY!!!!!!!

This is such a great recipe. I remember making them and giving them to my 3rd grade teacher for Christmas! My mom and I always made these for the holidays when we were younger, and we'd sprinkle the pb part of the cookie with red and green colored sugar to make them more festive!

They sound great, but I would use the dark chocolate ones since I'm such a dark chocolate addict! Thanks for posting!

I've made these before and the dark chocolate kisses are so good! Also, if you love peanut butter like I do you can use the peanut butter filled kisses.

Re: Great Holiday Cookie Recipe - Hershey Kisses Peanut Butter Cookies!!
I had made these MANY years ago - but decided to make them again last night and
These are so delicious!
I did a recipe for 4 dozen and only came out with 2 dozen I didn't think they were that large though! For those who make them - how big do you make the balls?
Also - just a tip for anyone else... These cookies don't spread much at all, so feel free to load up the cookie sheet when you're baking! I did two batches of 12.

Yes, definitely load up the cookie sheet! That is a good tip b/c they don't spread that much at all. Also, if you re-use a cookie sheet or get some additional sugar on the sheet make sure to wipe off any excess sugar b/c it causes the bottoms to burn easily.
For me, we made the dough into 1 inch balls. They were like the size of a large grape... that is the only thing I can think of to relate it to!

Thanks Dani!
I used a tablespoon to make the balls for ours - and I guess they were too big because we only got 2 dozen instead of 4!
PS - There's only about 10 left!
