Great Wolf Lodge vs Six Flags Great Escape?

Great Escape is $100 cheaper but I haven't heard much about it.

We would only be going for 1 night and I have an almost 3 yr old and a 1 yr old.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

ETA: if anyone has other ideas for a quick trip with the kids- please let me know! I have cabin fever and need to get away for a few days!

i think they are completely different experiences. I have been to both and they are both great for what they are, but IMO they are not really comparable.

Can I ask why they aren't comparable?
Like what are the differences?
I checked out both websites and it seems like the same idea of an indoor waterpark with a lodge.
I am curious because I heard mixed reviews on Great Wolf.
I wonder if the Great Escape is nicer?

We have been to both and prefer Great Wolf.

Great Escape doesn't have a wave pool and it's quite a bit smaller. The children's area is upstairs, in one confined area. There is a toddler splash area, but that is downstairs, so it's hard if you have multiple ages. There are also less slides, and less thrilling slides if you have older kids. The surfing thing is neat though, and I do like their lazy river better. Their rooms are run down from what I hear from friends. We did not stay overnight, as we were in the area for something else, and bought a day pass.

Also, even though you are are saving $100, the distance is much further. It took us about 5 hours to get to the area.

Exactly this. Great Wolf Lodge is 10 times better.

I've never been to Great Escape but I was disappointed with Great Wolf. I was expecting something great and it was not great at all.

Great Escape was fabulous when we went last year. They had a scooby doo mystery weekend with all sorts of themed events and character meet and greats. the kids had a reat time. the rooms were new. the food good. we are going to try great wolf soon.

Those who have been to Great Wolf...how are the rooms?
I keep hearing on Trip Advisor etc that the rooms are old and run down.
That is really what is holding me back- I have a thing about hotel rooms.

Our room was very spacious and comfortable. It was not luxurious by all means. The bathroom was probably the worst I've had in a hotel room since college. Toilet leaked entire time. Truly bare minimum.

The whole experience was fine, just not great. My expectations may have been high since I heard such raves about the place. If you manage your expectations, you should have a fine time. We had gone to Disney World a few weeks prior so we were spoiled.

I think the rooms are fine, and I'm picky about hotel rooms as well. The bathrooms are small and dark though, and nothing to hang your wet clothes on.
