Green smoothies

How do you make them? Do they actually taste good, or is it an acquired taste?

I would like to lose about 5 lbs, ...so I am not looking for some miracle, but something that is healthy, and will give me lots of energy, but will still allow me to lose weight..

Any advice, recipes you have I would really appreciate it! Hoping I could get my husband to drink them as well!

Also, do you drink 1 or 2 a day?

I love them. Add one full kiwi, if you like them, to any juice and that is all you'll taste. I use a cup of spinach, a slice of beet, celery, kiwi, apples. Anything really that I have in the house or that may spoil if not used soon yummy.

Oh and to actually answer your question, sorry I get too excited and don't respond fully, I drink a few a week. I use. Juicer. I think they are so yummy. But they can be quite caloric. They will have to replace a meal or snack fr weight loss.

Re: Green smoothies

I drink one almost everyday (I alternate with another type of smoothie). I put grapes, orange, pineapple, banana, kale and spinach in mine. I drink it in lieu of lunch.

Well, the kiwi sweetens it up and masks the earthy flavor of the kale or spinach that I use. I also do not like beets so I put in a very small amount but it is important because it is so cleansing.

I feel that the kiwi flavor is prominent in my smoothie but others may disagree. I like to always in clude a kiwi because I think it gives the smoothie such an enjoyable flavor. Although I love spinach and kale, the juices on their own are too much for me.

Green smoothies

I just made my first one tonight. I did 2.5 cups of spinach , 1 banana, half a cup of sliced mango, 1 cup of almond milk and a teaspoon of raw honey. So good !
ETA: I don't think it is an acquired taste. The banana and mango completely mask the taste of the greens. It is creamy and refreshing. I love greens, but no in a drink, so it works perfectly for me. It is also a great way to get additional veggies in.

I really enjoy them. Just make sure it's blended very well otherwise it can taste a little gritty. I taste the fruit more than the greens. It looks worse than it tastes lol

Re: Green smoothies

Just started my smoothie kick. They are quite filling and can take place of a breakfast or lunch in my case. I only drink one a day and alternate the ingredients so I don't get sick of it.

Today was strawberry banana nonfat yogurt, apple, spinach and I added flax seed. Add some ice and I blend it.

I also have added kale to my smoothies as well. I don't taste the veggies just the fruits.

Good luck!
