green soothie pacifiers...
The ones that many hospitals use for newborns, and they sell them of course in the store. Well, it says 0-3 months. The thing is though, DS, at almost 6 months, loves them still more than any other pacifier. This is the stupidest question, but I have to ask - any harm in continuing to let him use it? I tried giving him the blue one that is the next one up, but he does not seem to like it nearly as much. I'm just wondering if it is really not designed for a baby older than 3 months and will he choke on it or something?

Re: green soothie pacifiers...
Soothie makes 3+ month pacifiers. The only difference that I noticed is they are much thicker.

Re: green soothie pacifiers...
DD is almost 7 months and will only take the green. I tried the blue and she spits it right out. I dont think they are a choking hazard.

Re: green soothie pacifiers...
i think they just make them thicker/stronger so babies won't chew them up when they start teething. DS (almost 5 months) absolutely LOVES the green ones and only barely tolerates the blue ones. i think it's fine

Re: green soothie pacifiers...
The orthodontic pacifiers are made for a baby's growing mouth, Soothies unfortunately are not. That being said, my DS only takes a Soothie I am really trying to push the orthodontic pacifier instead.
Pacifiers come in many shapes and sizes. Orthodontic pacifiers have been scientifically designed to support the shape of babies’ developing palates and jaws. The flattened shape not only simulates the shape of a mother’s nipple when flattened in the mouth, but also encourages the most natural sucking action to help proper oral development.1
Studies indicate that children who use orthodontic pacifiers have a smaller chance of developing an open bite or an overbite than those who use conventional round pacifiers.

Re: green soothie pacifiers...
My DD loved and still does the green soothie paci. I only let her use it to sleep. It soothes her (she has bad reflux still at 21 months)
FYI I just saw in the BRU in Massapequa that they sell pink and purple 0-3 month soothie for girls and also blue for boys in the 0-3 month ones.
I was shocked and almost tempted to buy them but just couldn't. We have to get rid of the paci. soon.

Re: green soothie pacifiers...
FYI, i never used a pacifier or sucked my thumb and i still had a HUGE overbite and needed braces for almost 3 years. i personally am not worried about the effects of pacifiers just yet. if it keeps DS happy that's all i care about!

Re: green soothie pacifiers...
Marron still uses the 0-3 month Soothie at 2.5. She will take the pink one for older babies if that is all I have, but it is def. not her first choice. The ones for older babies are stiffer.
If this baby takes a paci I'm really going to try to get him/her to take the orthodontic ones. I tried with Marron but she wasn't having it!! The dentist said he can definately see right where the binky goes in her mouth. I know she is going to need braces anyway becuase of mine and DH's teeth but the dentist said that if we stop the binky soon that her teeth should go back into the right position. Hopefully this will lessen the amount of corrective work she needs done.

Re: green soothie pacifiers...
I like the Advent ones because they come with a cap(for travel) and have no top or bottom. They can pop it back in while in their crib and not have it upside down. But any company is fine as long as it reads "orthodontic"

My DD loved these. They even have ones for sensitive skin that lets more air onto their cheeks.
