I am guessing she was going with the angle that Meredith could overcome what her mom couldn't and live without Derrick. I haven't watched in years. I want d to watch tonight to see how they ended Derick. It was very disappointing.

I was never so mad at an episode than this one, well maybe except for the finale of Lost. I had my tissues all ready and I literally threw the box after the disgrace of saying goodbye to Derek. What a joke and a complete slap in the face of fans. Awful.
Andddd how can they not have Christina there or Addison or any of Dereks other sisters.

I thought it was a good episode. I'm glad they didn't have one of those funerals that played out the entire episode. I felt the episode was about saying goodbye to Derek and moving forward. I thought April was going to die and I wish there was more Amelia and Owen. I liked when Amelia was holding the new baby and they were watching the kids play. Derek died and life goes on.

I felt like this last week. I couldn't believe she didn't call her and let her know.
Glad she's going to confront her with it next week. But I'm done watching. I haven't liked the show in a while and only caught last weeks episode by chance. And I think she (Amelia) is a terrible actress I can't watch her. She annoys the hell out of me.
I get they wanted to show that life moves on. But this show revolved around him and Meredith. The were the core of the show. And I just feel he and the fans deserved more.

I am seriously so close to not watching this show anymore... The only thing that holds me back is being loyal because I've watched all the seasons. I've been on the fence for a while now and I really don't think I'll continue. Last night was awful. I thought it was so ridiculous how they moved forward a year and had her have a baby. And had Bailey & her husband still talking about that issue.
I don't know. I just really think they did a bad move by killing Derek off. The show will never be the same and he was one of the few reasons I was still watching.

I HATE that they just glossed over and entire year on the show, it's a cheap cop out................it avoids having to show the characters deal with his death. I thought it was a TERRIBLE send off. So many things about this episode were just stupid. Hunt and April just take off for months??!!! He runs the hospital!!!.................you can't just up and take off like that. Bailey and her DH going on and on for a YEAR about whether or not to stay on life support???.............seriously, a year???!!! And that moronic marriage proposal at the end. C'mon, show a little professionalism. First, it came off as totally corny but really............this is a HOSPITAL!!! Not really the place for roses everywhere, CANDLES, and marriage proposals in the middle of saving lives!!! Dumb, dumb, dumb.
I was annoyed the "funeral" was literally a minute right in the beginning. They should've spent a little more time out of a TWO HOUR episode dealing with his death and the aftermath of that. Meredith just disappears from the show for the first hour and everything else just felt like any old episode. I thought it was just terrible all around, it was a very disappointing episode, especially being that he was such a central character on the show. I thought this past year in particular has been terrible on Grey's, now without Derek, I don't think it will even be worth watching next season. I thing Grey's has seen its final days, it's not the same show at all anymore, it's become awful. I think it was a HUGE mistake killing him off.

I didn't like last nights episode either. It was completely dragged out for 2 hours. I was bored and I thought it would have been a more emotional episode but it was lacking. I don't like the Amelia actress either. Her hair style annoys me too lol.

I liked this episode... I don't think a big funeral was needed. I loved how it showed how everyone moved on and overcame their sorrow. Life goes on and it showed coping and strength of characters. I think this episode was beautifully written.

I agree, I liked it! Bawled my eyes out, especially at the end with that song. For a second there I thought they were gonna make her lose the baby when she was bleeding, I was like if that happens I'm done watching lol

Enough with these freaking flashbacks and crap.We covered Mer beingin therapy years ago. Yes the parralel is noted. Everything she went through as a child she is putting Zola through but with the "better" outcome. Great, fantastic, BUT you killed a MAJOR main character and just waved as you raced past it. Did it need to be a 2 hour funeral episode no, but come on. Nothing? This was such a waste and there was no need for a 2hr episode. There wasn't anything that happened that couldn't have been sped up in 1 hour. It was a mutitude of short crappy stories that didn't really have any closure to anything but for Mer over coming her childhood. Plus how silly is it that these flashbacks about her poor me childhood end with her naming the daughter of her dead husband after the train wreck that ruined her? Really Ellis is her name? You couldn't even give the fans a solid and give her a son to name derick?

I liked this weeks episode too. It was a little strange how Mer picked up and left but overall I thought it was good.
Also it looked like they showed what was supposed to be the back of Christina at the funeral rubbing her back.

I felt like the episode was just weird. It was all over the place jumping from one story to the next. The stories themselves weren't that interesting and some didn't even make sense or were just flat out stupid. They should devoted a little more time to Derek's death, a two second snippet wasn't enough closure. ITA with the above poster regarding Mer's flashbacks............seriously, enough with the carousel flashback already. That's been replayed a million times since season 2, time to move on already.
I expected to be really sad and really moved last night but instead I was mostly bored and letdown.

I thought the same thing! After showing a whole 2 hour episode about how her psychotic mother destroyed her childhood, she goes and names the baby after her? Why? And was the mother having a breakdown because Richard went back to Adele? I couldn't remember.
I'm really sick of Amelia's over acting. It's too much. And I hate her hair too. But I thought it was weird that Meredith didn't call her last week to at least get to say good bye to her brother and I'm glad she calls her out on it.
This show needs to wrap it up now. It's time for me to get off the carousel...so to speak.
