Grieving
I am having a very hard time getting over that fact that my dog is gone. I am having dreams about her or things that relate to her. I haven't cried in so long because I did so much crying towards the end.
Today has been really rough because I dreamt last night that I went to get a tattoo (totally not me) of a sheltie silhouette with angel wings and her name (Sadie) written above. Of course a bunch of wacky things came into the dream also, but now I can help but think do I need this tattoo for closure? Am I psycho for remembering a dog this way?? I know people do this in memory of family members and friends. I don't know where this idea came from and why I am thinking about it all day!!
Thanks for letting me share!

Re: Grieving
It has been three years.. and I still miss my Regi.
Please read this poem. It always makes me smile.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Re: Grieving
I am so sorry - as far as a tattoo, maybe it will give you closure or at least help. It's a horrible thing to lose your best and most loving friend.

Re: Grieving
I'm so sorry! I think that when you have a pet that you consider to be like a sibling or a child, they become that to you. It is so hard to lose a pet and my heart goes out to you!

Re: Grieving
You are not psycho. I still get very sad when I see pictures of Hans. He went to the bridge last October.
I feel that you will know if you have to get this tattoo. You will know it more than anyone could tell you if you should or should not.

Re: Grieving
I'm so sorry. I lost my Maddie over a year ago so I know how you feel. For months I cried myself to sleep every single night and always had to fall asleep with a picture of her on my chest. Now the picture sits on my nightstand and I still cry over her, but it's not every night. It will get better and your baby will always be in your heart.

Re: Grieving
I know how you feel..I actually dream of my dog Pepper every now and then..I feel like she is visiting me in my dreams This 8/16 it will be 6 years that we had to put her down (she had cancer and lost control of her bladder). But in the dreams, she is her old playful healthy self and now I know she is happy in heaven!!!!!!!!! Hang in there. It will get better with time

Re: Grieving
I know how painful it is to lose a pet. It's no different than losing a close family member. Actually, it IS losing a family member. Hang in there, time will dull the pain and you will always have the happy memories. She will be waiting for you in heaven
