Gross!! Corn Worms!
I'm gagging right now. We are having a party for DD's Christening tomorrow so I'm prepping food. I was just shucking the corn and when I got to the last piece I saw:
(not my pic- but it could've been!)
I never knew corn could have worms! Obviously, I threw that piece out, but now I'm suspicious of any ear that has some Kernels missing on top.
Has anyone else ever seen this?!

J/k but I'm probably not buying my own in the husk until I forget about this post!
Edited to answer lol: never seen that or heard of it personally

Re: Gross!! Corn Worms!
I've seen them, and it freaks me out every time. The first time I saw one was when I got organic corn from a farm in Suffolk. They warned me that the worms would be in there and assured me it would be fine/safe to eat (just cut off the affected part of the corn).

Re: Gross!! Corn Worms!
Actually that is probably the sweetest ear in the bunch. You can just cut the top off and the rest would be fine to eat.
At least thats what my cousins from the country say, it freaks me out.
Most of the corn that seems "eaten" at the top is really just underdeveloped. They pick it too early.

Gross!! Corn Worms!
Whoa! I've never seen or heard of those before but that's SUPER gross! I would have had a heart attack right there. I will forever be afraid to shuck my own corn now lol! I also don't have a strong enough stomach to just cut off the bad end and eat it.

Gross!! Corn Worms!
I've seen this for as long as I can remember, peeling local corn. We check the corn before we bag it!

Re: Gross!! Corn Worms!
Yes, I had this lovely experience for the first time last year...we were doing an organic farm share and it's apparently very likely to have worms if you don't use pesticides on the corn. I went to use the corn and was horrified to see these giant green caterpillar looking things!

Re: Gross!! Corn Worms!
I just found 3 in 3 ears of corn from a local (upstate) farmers market.
So if I just cut off the eaten tops ( and a bit xtra for safety) it should be ok.
Totally grossed out but if its safe I'll keep em!

Re: Gross!! Corn Worms!
I'd rather deal with corn worms than genetically modified corn!
