Group vacation
Part of a 3 family group w a total of 7 kids ages 1-9 (1, 4, 5, 5, 7, 8& 9). Looking for a place during the summer where we can spend a week. Budget is flexible. Flights are fine (even international). Kids are strong swimmers (except the 1 year old).
Cruises are out since one mom gets seasick.
Any ideas/experiences? Specific rentals/hotels appreciated!!!

Re: Group vacation
Outer banks isn’t a bad idea!!! Where do you stay? Is there a general area? We’d have 5-6 adults... so would need a big house (at least 5 bedroom) plus a pool.
Is there more to do than just beach?

We go to Myrtle Beach every year and there is a lot to do. We stay in a condo but you can check out home rentals on vrbo.com

we go every year, and my parents used to own a vacation house down in the outer banks. I would say if you want more than just the beach, then look in the towns of Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, Duck... those areas are all a little more " built up" with things like miniature golf, theres an aquarium thats cute, you can visit the Wright Brothers first flight museum/ site, you can take a wild horse tour on the beach down in Corolla, about 40 minutes away there is a big, new waterpark. you can also visit the Cape Hatteras lighthouse thats about an hour away... so while its mostly hanging out on the beach for a week, there are things that break it up and you can rent a house with a pool and hot tub, too which helps break up the beach time, too. I would probably not stay on Hatteras Island (Avon, Buxton, Frisco, Rodanthe...) because that is a little more "remote" with not as much other stuff to do.
Look on check out Sun Realty NC or Twiddy realty... and you can search for a house with the right number of bedrooms, or if you want things like your own pool/ hot tub, pet friendly so you can take your pet with you... all that kind of stuff

Re: Group vacation
We did North Conway, NH this summer with kids 2, 4 and 6. Rented a house and I thought it was great. Storyland, Santa's Village, Echo Lake, outlet shopping, Mt. Washington, nature, pool, decent restaurants - a little something for everyone. Down side - it was 7 hours for us from LI (stopped in MA though both ways).

Re: Group vacation
Last year, we rested with a toddler in Cyprus. In July and August - this is the heating season. But if there is air conditioning in the room and in the car, then everything goes normal. So we took the baby gear on Top-Mom and go on a vacation. In a cafe, portions are usually quite good and large. For 12-17 Euros you can have a healthy meal even with wine. All products in Cyprus are imported from Germany and Greece. Vegetables and fruits, in general, can be at low prices. For example, someone takes beef for 9-10 Euros per kg, fries and enjoys the life, and someone complains that an Australian ribeye 40-45 lies on the counter, but the one that was better for 75 was not delivered and that’s so bad that you can’t live on without delicates.

This is the best thing I've read in the decade. Was this some kind of google translate fail?

Google translate is better. This was written by the poster. You can tell by the way he says “the life”. There are way too many mistakes; I read through this stuff for a living.
And beef does NOT cost 9-10 euro a kilo. And sorry, but the beef in Germany sucks. That’s nothing to advertise! Advertise the seafood in Cyprus. That’s something that is good. Who goes on a website full of women and advertises beef for Cyprus?
I don’t understand where these people find this site from.

But the funny thing is- the thing that was hyperlinked was to a mom website for baby gear. So what is he actually advertising? Baby gear or beef?

Group vacation
Personally, I would not rent a house, especially with a group. I’m on vacation to relax, not cook and clean. If everyone in the group is in agreement in terms of meals and responsibilities that’s one thing but I’d make sure that’s the case beforehand.

I always say that too. I hear of people renting houses for the week and they are packing sheets, towels, condiments, food. Cooking. Cleaning. Get the eff outta here. How is that a vacation? I'll be at the 5 star resort down the road having my margaritas served to me poolside, my toilet scrubbed daily, fresh towels every day and all meals cooked and served to me. That's a vacation.

I agree! If I'm going to have to clean up, I might as well be at home and just go to the town pool during the day.
For a group vacation, I recommend an all-inclusive resort. There are things to do on-site and people don't have to always stay together. You can plan to have dinner together and then just relax during the day. That's more of a vacation, IMO.
