GROWN WOMAN Im disgusted..

I went to get something to eat for lunch. I was sitting down eating and across from me There was handicapped adults. They had aides with them and the aides were feeding them (they were all in Wheelchairs). This mother and daughter come and go to sit down. The daughter looks at the handicap adults looks at her mother and says "Ma" looks over at the wheelchairs and says "We are not sitting her you are the one that has to sit here and look at them"



Then they go and sit somewhere else... When a group of handicap adiults who have downs come and sits in front of the, The older ladies (Id say mother was 65) actually pack up there food and MOVED so they didn't have to "look at that either" I am seriously DISGUSTED. My heart hurt.... How can you be like that? They are people

Maybe it's because my cousin is Autistic.

When I see people do that, I get so upset! They are not exposed to the "real" world where there are people that have handicaps. I guess considering I had a grandmother who was wheelchair bound & could not speak, I understand it more!

No matter how people eat or get around, they are still PEOPLE!!!! I am so sorry you had to exposed to that!!!

they won't realize until they're old, and need to depend on someone to feed and toilet them, too.

People do suck, and no matter how much you lower your expectations of them, they still manage to come in WAY below the bar.

I'm really surprised that even a 65 yr old woman was lacking that sort of compassion- i probably would've said something to them, but, its definitely a sensitive topic to me, and i think i've changed enough adult diapers, and fed enough pureed diets to dimentia patients to feel that way. Still, i think anyone with a heart would... and its sad what we, as a society, are becoming.

I worked in a group home for developmentally disabled adults for year. Watching them eat is definitely not pleasant at times.

I can understand them wanting to switch their seats - what I can't fathom is the rude way they did it. The daughter needs to be taught manners - and it's obviously not going to come from the mother. It's a shame.

That's disgusting. It can be difficult to watch some people with severe developmental disabilities eat, but there is a way to move subtlely without anyone realizing it.

I honestly had no problem seeing them be spoon fed or have to be bottle fed (as one did) Im not going to lie and say I didn't see it or look. Of course I did it was probably the first think I noticed. When I sat down I thought I give the caretackers so much credit it takes such a special person to do that.

Then to hear two grown women walk by and say that made me disgusted with people. The mother was at least 65 if not older i'd say daughter 40's.

And I also think what if they had a child like that? THANK GOD they don't. I never know what kind of children I will have (god willing) If thats what God gives me thats what he gives me. He only would do it if he knew I could handle it

Listen, Im not exactly a person with a steel lined stomach, I get very nauseous at visuals when I am eating or otherwise (although Ive gotten better with having kids-no choice!) but to do it like that, and it must have been pretty overt behavior where it was obvious to other people around them, is beyond rude and obnoxiously low class bahavior. They're the first people to get upset if they are treated poorly - real or imagined.

That is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! I always feel so bad for them. But I probably would have moved too, just becuase my dad had a stroke and it hurts me to think of what could have been had he survived - I was the one who was picking him up off the floor when he collapsed- I just would not have made a big deal to move, I would have just gotten up very quietly and moved. My heart goes out to these people who take care of them and for the people themselves.
