growth sonos and accuracy
i went for my growth sono today. As he was doing the sono i was tallkig baout how with my dd the measurements were off. he said they are not always accurate. I said does a big first baby mean big second baby. He said it could.
So then he says i dont think this one is too big, i said ok how much? he said 4lbs. Now at 32 weeks with my dd she was measuring 3lbs 13oz, smaller than this one and he is saying this is not big. They say the baby gains approximately 1/2lb a week from now on so that would be about 8lnbs not bad since my dd was 10lbs at a a week late. i am so confused. Do i go on thinking i am having a normal size kid this time or do i assume they arent accurate and since i have big babies in my family that i shoud expect him to be more than 8lbs?

Hmmm, not sure if you can assume anything. My cousin, best friend and myself were all told we were having babies over 9 pounds and none of us did. I find that the more people I talk to, the more they seem to not be right in their calculations. But that doesn't mean they aren't correct sometimes.

Re: growth sonos and accuracy
I just know the my doc at my 36/37wk said my DD would be about 7/8lbs at birth.
My little one was only 5lbs 12oz.
I think they are way off.

Re: growth sonos and accuracy
Ive had where they are right on and completely off...
I was told 3 days before Ariel was born that she was about 5lbs 5oz...she was 7lbs 15oz.
I was told a day before I had the twins that they were 4lbs 14oz and 5lbs 6oz..the were 4lbs 14oz and 5lbs..
Im going to say that they were pretty much right on the money with Caden also..2 weeks before he was born they said 6lbs 8oz...he was 7lbs 11oz when he was born.

Re: growth sonos and accuracy
at 34 weeks he estimated DD at 4lbs 10oz
at 37 weeks he guesstimated her @ roughly 6lbs
at 39 weeks when I delivered she was 6lbs 2oz.

Re: growth sonos and accuracy
I had two growth sonograms. At 37 weeks they said was 8lbs11oz. At my 39 week one they said 9lbs5oz. She was 8lbs7oz. There is always room for error. Even my doctor believed that the sono tech was off on both sonos

Re: growth sonos and accuracy
I think my sonos were pretty accurate - they said I was gaining 1/2 pound a week and that held pretty true - They estimated if I went on time she would be around 10 lbs - she was 10 days early and was 9lbs 4 ozs.
