How do you pronounce your name? I took a dance class today and the teacher's name is Michal but I am unsure of how to say it correctly?

Just checked my work email - she sent an apology and tried to be jokey and say how people always mess up her name even though it's Donna.
My name is Donna too.
How does someone mess that up?  
She said when she used to live in Montreal, people called her Donut
