*** GTG - Western Suffolk Location ***

So I have talked to a few mommies and decided we are in need of a western suffolk get together.

I included a poll for the date either Wednesday, August 19th or Wednesday, August 26th.

Once the date is decided I will poll for a time that works best for all of us.

LOCATION: Tanner Park, in Copiague

For those of you that are unsure of where Copiague is, it is a town located right near the Nassau/Suffolk border in the Town of Babylon.

A little bit about the location -

sprinkler park, brand new playgrounds, boardwalk, beach, skateboard park, and concessions

Town of Babylon residents can enter for free with the permit. Non residents can either pay $15 to park, or park outside on the street and walk in.

We will figure out the logistics once date and time is decided. You can feel free to either pack a lunch or buy lunch from the concessions.

there is $25 parking fee for WEEKENDS ONLY.
$15 for weekdays which is when we are planning this.

I will also scope out the situation over the next week. As far as I know they don't crack down on parking during the week, only weekends. But I will try to confirm.

I didn't really think the $15 would be too big of a deal with so much to do, since that is what most of us pay for a day at the beach anyway.

ets - I am going to give everyone a day or two longer to decide if they can come. Then I will poll for a time that is convenient for most.

We'd be interested in going. We live close by too. The 19th is the day after we get back from Disney, so I voted for the 26th. Thank you for organizing this.

I'd love to come since it's within walking distance of my house, but I can almost guarantee I will be at work since Wednesdays I am basically required to be in the office. Have fun though. Maybe those of us who live close could get together on a weekend. Saturdays I am usually free most of the day since DH works.

Just to let you know, jess, they raised the parking price to $ 25

ETA - maybe that is just for weekends though.... look into it

i would love to go- i think the 19th is definitely better for me so i voted for it. the 25th is my anniv. not sure if we are going anyplace yet, but if not, then i guess the 26th will be ok too!

Oh, yay! This is right near me! We are in, either day is great.

I did hear that they cracked down on parking on the street there and at Venetian as well.

I picked the 19th but we could do either day. I am a TOB resident with a pass. I have an extra car seat so if a non-TOB resident has one toddler and wants to meet and be able to get in free let me know.

Tanner is a great park but I think the sprinkler park at Venetian is more geared for toddlers and the playground there is much shadier, any thoughts of moving it there?

DD naps at around 1:30 so we'd prefer to meet in the morning or late afternoon but can skip the occasional nap if we have to.

Patti, I was thinking the sprinkler park might be better at Venetian...but I feel like there is better parking, walking (the boardwalk) playground, and concessions at Tanner which is why I picked Tanner.

I also wanted to mention myself and Crystal (octmommy08) have passes to get into the park for free. We have no problem meeting a few blocks away and hop into our car to get in without having to pay.
