Re: GTG in the winter months?
see, I always want to go to one, but I fear a melee....
of SAHM vs. FTWM, FF vs BF, SAHMs with nannies/cleaning people vs FTWM with none,
and all others.
I admit, I always look at pics of the GTGs and expect to see women ripping each others hair out.....but I never do.
I'm scared to meet some of you ladies. There, I said it.

Re: GTG in the winter months?
I love G2G's i have gone to a few and miss my arboretum days! ALL THOSE DARN SAHM's get to just sit there on Friday's and have lunch!
It's never drama, everyone is always so nice. I think once people get face to face its different then computer talk. The kids are around and its about them.
UNLESS the ones who always bring drama don't go to G2G's

so there has never been drama at a GTG?? These boards (All of them, not just parenting) get so damn hostile sometimes..I can't imagine everyone is all friendly.

I didn't mean it like that at all. I like Jenna a lot and always look forward to her posts and every time I look at Desitin, I think of her cute boys.
I am no stranger to being unliked, and I always want to go out and meet other moms. I always want to go to a GTG and I'm always apprehensive.
I never even enter those contests for the LIF-funded GTGs, because I know I would rather someone enter and win who really wants to go. I meant no harm; I have a "joke-y" personality and meant to lighten the mood of the other thread going on now.
Sorry if I offended anyone - not my intent..never my intent.

I just felt bad b/c Jenna was just posting a simple & innocent thread about playdates for her boys and I felt your comment would make the whole thread take a turn for the worse. I appreciate you retracting.

Re: GTG in the winter months?
Now that it's too cold for the arboertum on Fridays some of us meet up at Little Sunshines in Sayville for open play. It's at 12:30 and only $5 for 1 and 1/2 hours.

Also, the type of play dates the OP is talking about would be limited to the amount of moms and dcs that could fit in someone's living room or play room- so it would probably only be 4 or 5 people that like each other to begin with.
I've been talking about something similar in Queens for working mommies (or just mommies that want weekend play dates) b/c the same old places get not just boring but $$$.

I have so many words I want to use but I will have to edit for time and space: Seriously. Get a sense of humor.
To Jenna: I do not think anyone would want to meet me but I think you have a wonderful idea, it's hard to stay sane during the cold winter months with the kids running wild around the house!

you know what? You're absolutely right because now I am doing the very thing I was trying to prevent from my first response on this thread. My apologies to Jenna

Re: GTG in the winter months?
FWIW every single mom I have encountered in the two GTGs I have attended have been incredibly sweet and genuine. It is about having fun with our kids, not starting drama.
I would definitely be interested if they are on the weekends. I was thinking the same thing. We are going to be so limited in the winter time!
I think it's a great idea Jenna

When do you go? on Fri? My mom always brings Peyton there for open play on Wednesdays.

Re: GTG in the winter months?
I have a couple of things to say:
#1: I always find humor in drama.... thanks for bringing some to this thread!
#2: I live in Commack and am more than willing to GTG on a weekend here and there!
#3: Some of my best friends are mommies I met on here in the past year! I've become close with many and truly LOVE everyone I've met!!! My social calendar is almost always booked because of great friends I've met on here. Those of you (lurkers) out there or others that are nervous about meeting people face to face, it's really great!!!
Now, more please!

Re: GTG in the winter months?
I would definately be interested... I live in Brentwood and have a tiny house though and a big dog. I vacuum regularly but she sheds ALOT so if you don't mind a little dog hair and tight corners I don't mind having it here either. OK now that I just read what I wrote, maybe my house wouldn't be the best but its open if needed.. I agree with Kenny'smommy... I too have made wonderful friends through LIF GTGs.. and look forward to meeting more.
