Gyno appt
I have my Gino apt this month. Dh and i are going to start ttc in a few months. I was going to talk to her about PN Vitamins.
My question is how many people got genetic testing done b/4 TTC? Do they take the blood at your gyno apt, or do you get it done somewhere else?
Are there any other questions I should ask her before TTC.

We had bloodword done, that i guess is normal procedure for ashkenazi jews to rule out tay sachs....I had to go to a lab to get it done, not sure how it works other places, but that was my experience!!

I didn't get any bloodwork done, and she told me to continue to take the multivitamin that I was taking b/f TTC. and when I get PG she would give me a prescription.

We did not have any bloodwork done...Now that we are TTC for 8 months, we are going to start to have some tests done...Otherwise, my Dr told us just to have fun

Yes, I didn't have it done though because DH is not Jewish. So even if I was a carrier, it wouldn't post a threat since it is a recessive trait. Both of us would have to be carriers for our children to have these genetic diseases.
If you and DH are not predisposed to any genetic diseases, I don't see why you would need testing.

thanks we are not predisposed to any genetic diseases.
I didnt think we had to but some people had told me it was a must. I'll see what the dr. says and go from there.
