had my 12 wk check up-at first couldn't hear the HB but

then my DR. gave me a sonogram and my little chicken was bouncing around and waving the arms! i was AMAZED-really. when she couldn't find the HB my body froze and i started to tell myself to be prepared and was worried beyond belief. she then said ok lets try a sono and that was it! so if you go to your 12 wk and that happens don't freak out just yet. my dr. said that that can happen. maybe i just have too much fat on my belly now so that's why she couldn't hear it! i gained 8 lbs in my first 3 months! YIKES

My doctor didn't even try to let me hear the heartbeat til my 15 week appointment. I saw it, but didn't hear it til then.

It's so cool to see them moving around, isn't it?

glad to hear everything is OK and that you had a good appointment. The dr could also have a hard time if the baby is moving around a lot. There's so much room in there in the beginning. At my last appt (19wks) it took the dr a little while because my baby was bouncing around.

Whew...so glad that everything is okay. It's abig scare when they can't find it. So far at both my 11 week and 15 week the doctor had to spend a little time finding it. The first time was the worst...the machine actually was broken but we didn't know. Thank God she is very calm and suggested that we try another before a sonogram because we heard it loud and clear once she switched. Although I made her promise it wasn't MY heartbeat that was racing a mile a minute from the scare. So we went back and forth...your HB...baby's HB...your HB...baby's HB.

oh ok! there many reasons why then you might not hear the HB-i just thought it would be like right there! never even thought about a broken doppler or how much the baby moves and the amount of room in there!
