My first Christmas Tree on my own....and I have to admit, I'm clueless....help?

So, I moved out of my parents house and into an apartment complex in Sayville 9 months ago....and I'm buying my first tree. My parents usually go to the fire house in Melville, pick out a tree, and then the firemen delivery it for them....I don't see anything on the Sayville FD website about a tree sale, and I haven't seen a lot. So, I'm planning on going to the lot in the BB&B and Kmart parking lot on the service road to sunrise hwy....here are my questions....do they help you tie it to your car? will it scratch my car, do I need to bring something to put under the tree? how expensive are trees? do I tip the guys? how much should I tip?
TIA!!!!

I;v erseen real trees from everywehre from$20-$90

I would bring a heavy duty blanket and bungee cords for the tree. If it's not a long distance you could possibly do it with twine. One year my dad drove home literally holding an 8 foot dougls fir with his left hand as he drove (not advisable).

If they put it on your car I would tip a couple of bucks

If you don't ant to spend $$$$ I would go to home depot and get one. I think they're like $20-$30

also buy a tree remvoal bag if you live in an apartment - makes for less mess to clean up when you have to dispose of the tree - the bags are easy to find when buying the tree - impossible after christmas

make sure you get a stand to put the tree in - the plastic ones work as well as ,metal ones - i bought a cheap plastic one from walmart and is easy for one person to set the tree up because the spike in the middle makes the tree stand stright while you screw the sides in

good luck - i remember getting my first christmas tree a few years ago - i did it entirely by myself

I'm doing this one by myself..I'm kinda excited for it...I bought a plastic stand at Kmart, it has the spike, so I should be good there...thanks for the suggestions about the bag, I hadn't thought of that! I'll look for one at home depo when I get the tree...they'll most likely have it, if not I'll hit kmart again
