Had my 1st Ultrascreen test today ...

This was the non invasive test during the end of my 1st trimester where they check for down syndrome and other abnormalities.

Everything went great physically. They baby’s heart beat was good and it was moving around being pretty active. A couple of times the doctor tapped my lower abdomen with the sono instrument to try to get the baby to move so she can have a better shot measuring. It was pretty interesting. The baby grew so much since the last time I saw him/her at 8 weeks. The doctor who saw me today measured me at 12 weeks and 2 days and gave me a due date of October 24th. I was a little surprised by that because my regular doctor gave me the date of November 1st. She said I’m measuring further ahead of what I am. She also said that my baby might be just big in size. If her date was more than a week of what my other doctor said she would have called my doctor to let her know her opinion.

I got two really cute pics one looks like the baby is sucking on his/her thumb and the other the baby is on his/her back. You can really make out the facial features. It was the best part of my day today.

Now I have an appt. on the 24th with my regular doctor to go over the results from today and all the blood work I had done for my 1st prenatal visit. I made an appointment for early June to have the same similar test done. She said she offers this to pregnant women during their 2nd trimester. It’s non invasive so no risk at all. It’s offered so I’m doing it anyway.

Anyone have this test done or the one I had today? How were your results?

Yes, almost everyone has the ultrascreen if they choose to have it done. If you do a search you will find tons and tons of posts about it, if you want some info.

Im thinking your level 2 is what you scheduled in June? Thats when they measure the baby and when you can find out the sex if you choose to.

I went for mine NT scan last week. I had the same issue with the size of the baby that you did. The baby was measuring about a week ahead of what my due date was. The sono tech (who happens to be the mom of one of my close friends) explained to me that you can be off about 7 to 10 days in the first trimester, 2 weeks in the second, and 3 in the third. This is normal and unless you are measuring more or less that that you are fine.

We also saw the little pumpkin flipping around and sucking his/her thumb. We also got to here the heartbeat. It was 164.

From what I understand, they compare the results from this scan and bloodwork to the second scan (done around 20 weeks or so).
