Had my Anatomy Scan today: the good and the inconclusive..

So, it was today at exactly 20 weeks. Baby was face down so we still need to see the face and the heart. I honestly wanted to cry. As many of you may know, my firstborn had a very serious heart defect. It was called Hypoplastic Left Heart. It basically meant that the left side of his heart was severely underdeveloped. It was at his anatomy scan, back in 2008, that they discovered this. I have been on pins and needles waiting to hear some good news about our newest addition, that the heart is nice and healthy. I thought today would be the day as it is a very special one" my mom's angelversary. She has been gone 13 years today. I couldn't help but to think maybe she is pissed at me. Sounds ridiculous but I am filled with sadness that our first boy had to have met with such a fate. Cannot, even more than 3 years later, make sense of it all. I can't help but to blame myself, even to this day.

On a very very good note, we got ourselves a team!! It was confirmed a couple of weeks ago but I can share now. We are having a............................................................................................................................BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So thrilled a blessed to be welcoming another baby boy into the family and cannot wait for DD to meet him!! Oh, and I had such a feeling, total mama's intuition.

I am sorry that you didn't get to have your anxiety lifted today...hopefully soon you'll be reassured that your LO is good and healthy. However, congrats on your little !!

Although I don't have the history that you have, I did have a similar experience with my 20week sono. They repeated it 2 weeks later and baby was STILL face down! They recommended 2 weeks after that that I go to Winthrop Perinatal and they take their time there and don't let you leave until they have all of thei mages that you need. I was there for 2.5 hours but we got all of the views of the heart that we needed.

So I am assuming your doc is scheduling another sono?

Im so sorry your anxiety wasnt resolved today. Did you set up a repeat sono? Just stay positive and do things that help to relax you... And if your religious keep faith and pray... Im so so sorry to hear of your previous loss i know how painful and traumatic that is... I hope everything will be okay this time...

Thanks everyone. Yes, the lady set me up for a fetal echo for Tues. I am glad a professional gets to finally take a look anyway. Not crazy about the sono tech, I feel she just wanted to kick me the hell out of there.

I just want to breathe a sigh of relief and get on with this pregnancy.

I am sorry you could not get the images they needed. I can't imagine how stressful that must be. prayers that you get amazing news at your next appointment!!!!
