Had my ultrasound today...UPDATE
I didn't know where to post this. I'm not quite comfortable going onto the pregnancy board yet, but I don't want to make anyone on this board feel uncomfortable either, so if you want me to stop posting here, just let me know.
Basically, I'm 5w3d and they had a lot of trouble finding the sac. They were finally able to find it, but it wasn't very clear and there was no yolk yet.
In my incessent internet research this seems to be common because it's so early, but this is not stopping me from freaking out.
My 3rd beta was good (4021), but they want to see me back on Tuesday to make sure things are progressing.
I was so disappointed this morning, and I burst into tears the moment we got back in the car.
I would appreciate any insight, prayers, cheering up you've got.
UPDATE:
Houston, we have a yolk sac!!!
They were able to CLEARLY see the gestational sac and yolk sac today and my RE said everything looks great!!
I've never been so happy to see a little white dot in my life!!
We go back in one week to hopefully see the heartbeat!!
Thank you all for your support!!

Re: Had my ultrasound today...
Oh Lauren - I don't know what to say. I wish things had been better. But keep in mind at this point most women don't even know they are pg yet, so it is totally normal for the sac to be hard if not impossible to see.
It is so easy to say but please try to relax, and think positive -- Tuesday will be here soon and I will pray for a much better u/s for you!
PS I don't mind you posting here at all.

Re: Had my ultrasound today...
If you remember they thought one of my twins was going to "vanish" because the heartbeat appeared so weak. Well, all is fine now.
When it's so early it can be difficult for them to get an accurate measurement or pictures. I've also learned that it greatly depends upon who is doing the sonogram and even the machine.
I was at my high risk ob-gyn this past week and the latest sono is nowhere near as clear as the ones from the RE
It's not exactly the same but I can tell you that twice in 7 years my father had a sonogram on his carodit artery and they said it went from 25% blocked to 95% blocked The first time my life flashed before my eyes. I thought, wonderful... my only living parent who is disabled is now going to die Well, they re-performed the test and all was fine. I had a week of unbelievable stress The second time I didn't believe it until they retested.
What I've learned, through taking care of my Dad, is often tests/sonos, etc. are not entirely accurate and can give false reading. Your beta is good so let's just hope that there was a problem with the machine or the person doing the reading.
Stay positive. When do you go back in for another sonogram?

Just wanted to send you some hugs
Hang in there...it's still early. I know...easier said then done...I've been there! However, the fact that your beta is rising so nicely is a great sign of all to come

Re: Had my ultrasound today...
first you are one of use and I think you belong here at least unitl your RE releases you, and even after that I dont mind you posting.
Secondly, like everyone else said it is very early and most people dont even have a sono at this point. I know it is easier said then done but try to stay positive.

Re: Had my ultrasound today...
OH lauren, Im so sorry to hear your feeling so down. PLEASE have faith. Remember its sooo early.
I DO NOT sugarcoat anything, I tell it like it is...and I will tell you I have 100% faith that your gonna be fine and so is your little bean.
The beta is perfect! At this time, it would be going down if the embryo wasnt thriving....
When do you go back??
DO NOT let this fear you.
PLEASE???

Re: Had my ultrasound today...
Your beta is going up so you don't have anything to worry about right now. As was said before, it's way to early to say they can or can't see anything, you are only 5 weeks. As long as your beta goes up and you have symptoms you will be fine. Praying for a better sono for you next week!!!!
And, I don't mind you posting here - we want to know how you are doing - I would be afraid to move over to the pregnancy board myself.

Re: Had my ultrasound today...
Don't worry. I agree with the other posters that it's very early to see anything well and it depends on who did the sono. Good Luck on Tues!

Re: Had my ultrasound today...
Witha beta that high you are most likely ok-5.5 weeks is still very early-my regular OB would only US at 8 wks to be sure to see the HB. Stay strong and good luck.
