Had to put my cat to sleep
She was 19 years old and I'd had her since I was 13, so basically she's been there through most of my life. It was such a hard decision to make that I had been putting off but it just got to the point that I didn't want her to be in any more pain. She had been deteriorating for months :( it was the hardest decision to make and I'm still not sure I made the right decision. I keep thinking maybe she could have made it for a while longer, who knows how much longer though. But the vet said I shouldn't let her get to the point of really suffering. I also can't believe she's really gone after having her with me for so long. Now every little sound I hear I keep thinking its her coming up behind me. When does that feeling go away

OMG. I am so so sorry.  It takes a long long time to feel sort of normal and accepting of your pet being gone. 19 years is amazing, sounds like you gave her a wonderful loving life. All cats should be so lucky as yours must have been. I am sorry.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my cat at 18. It's so hard because they really are a part of your family. Give yourself some time. It is so difficult but it does get easier.

I'm really sorry 19 years is such a long time, I can't imagine how you're feeling right now. I hope your pain fades and you turn to focusing on happy memories soon.

I'm very sorry for your loss.
We had to put our 14 year old pug down a little over a year ago and I still hear his collar jingle or hear his whine. It doesn't make me sad anymore, it feels nice to be reminded of him.

I went through pretty much the exact same thing back in October. My sweet Clover was 18.5, and I had her since I was 14. I am so so so so sorry. It is so hard. I still see and hear her. It gets easier but it is never easy.
RIP kitty.
