Hair Extensions

Have you ever gotten them? How long did it take to get done? What's the process of having them put it? Was it painful? How did you pick where to get them?
I vermuch miss my long hair and I think I might treat myself to getting some.
It seems silly but my self confidence is on the low scale and I think it might help a bit

Re: Hair Extensions

I've never had them but my friend who did said that while it took a long time, it didn't hurt.

Definitely not silly that your self confidence is on the low side. I say go for it... if it will make you feel better, JUST DO IT (like the Nike slogan!).

Re: Hair Extensions

I really think I might. I have held back on spending money but think I might treat myself.

Is there a minimum length your natural hair has to be? I'ms cared some parts might not be long enough to attach the extension to.

Re: Hair Extensions

Also. if you (or a friend or aquaintance) did get it done, how did they decide on WHERE to get it done?

Re: Hair Extensions

Sounds really lame, BUT, Jessica Simpson has a line of hair extensions and they are actually REALLY great.
My hairdresser put them in for me, playing around and they looked amazing!

Deb, I'm not sure how long your hair has gotten, but this may be an option and you can play around and switch them up a bit without paying $$$$.

ETA: Hers aren't permanent, they attach w/ clips so you can have a bunch of different looks

Re: Hair Extensions

My sister got her's done, I will have to find out the girls name, but I know she does it in her house. She works on playboy girls hair, and she did an amazing job on my sisters hair, I know its a little Chat Icon , my sister paid $1000 but she had short hair and the girl had to use a lot. My sister still has them in 3 months later, and they still look great!

Re: Hair Extensions

You have every right to be dissapointed.

What about dying your hair a color you've always dreamed of, but never dared?

Deb..

Listen to me.. you can get them.. you just need to go to a place that will do you and not rip you off..

First of all you should buy the hair YOURSELF so you save $$
Second DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT get the bonded gel ones, glued ones..

Get the ones I get and learned my lesson.. The ones braided into your scap under YOUR own hair as a track..
They last prob 2 mts and they cost about 15 bucks PER track to sew into yoru head.. yes, its weird to get use to but you will LOVE IT!

I am actually ordering my hair now again because I had them in for a year on and off and now I miss them sooooooooooooooo much!

Re: Hair Extensions

Deb, You should not give up. I had them about 8 years ago, and my hair was shorter than yours.

You should try different salons. I went to an African American Salon in Hempstead. They did cornrow braids on my entire head, and then in spots where the hair was super short, they glued them. For the rest, they sewed the extensions into the cornrows.

I don't remeber exactly how much, but I think about $500.

On extreme makover on tv, they use a new process. It looks like it can be used on hair 1 inch long..

Keep looking. I'm sure you can find a place!! Good Luck

ive gotten them a few times. don't get glued ones, get braided ones.

your haiur has to be at least a few inches in order to braid them in.

otherwsie you'll look like britney spears.

they are expensive. mine were $2500
but i got them for free because a friend did it for her website.

i also haev POP (putonpieces.com) that clip in and i LOVE them. only $65
