Hair Loss
My whole pregnancy, I barely shed a strand of hair, now the last 2 weeks my hair in the shower is falling out like mad I faithfully take my vitamins, eat very well and drink tons of water.
Did anyone have Post Partum hair loss? When did it start? When did it end?

Re: Hair Loss
I'm going through it now too. I have to clean out the drain in the shower everyday because of a a huge wad of hair. I'm thinking its a normal 4 mos PP occurence. I have super thick italian hair so it's not noticeable but I can imagine if I had thin hair ....Just wanted to let you know, you are not alone BTDT moms....when will it stop??

Re: Hair Loss
Me too! My son is four months and it has just started with a vengeance. It doesn't help that my son loves to pull my hair, so I find it by him all the time.
Does it peak at 4 mos PP? I did not know that. I also had a lot of breakage while pregnant. I hope this stops because right now I hate my hair.

Re: Hair Loss
With Caiden it started around 2-3 months old and didn't stop for months. It was horrifying. Some hair grew back but now it's even thinner than it originally was.

Re: Hair Loss
It is completely normal to lose all that hair. I know it's scary to see, but it's normal

Re: Hair Loss
Sorry to hijack, but I have a question...
At what point does the hair loss stop? and How long does it take to grow back? Trying to prepare myself for when it happens to me. TIA

Re: Hair Loss
I promise you it will. Your hair stopped shedding while you were pregnant and is now going full force. I know how disturbing it is. It took a full year for me to return to normal (including the tiny little baby hairs growing out).

Re: Hair Loss
I just did a search on this and it is what I found... I just wanted to see if others went through it
Many new moms are surprised to find themselves shedding more hair than usual sometime in the first few months after giving birth, but it's perfectly normal. And there's no need to panic. You won't go bald. In fact, your hair should be back to normal by your baby's first birthday.
Normally, about 85 to 95 percent of the hair on your head is growing and the other 5 to 15 percent is in a resting stage. After the resting period, this hair falls out (often while you're brushing or shampooing your hair) and is replaced by new growth. The average woman sheds about 100 hairs a day.
During pregnancy, increased levels of estrogen prolong the growing stage so there are fewer hairs in the resting stage and fewer falling out each day, so you have thicker, more luxuriant tresses. But after you give birth, your estrogen levels take a tumble and a lot more hair follicles enter the resting stage — and that means more hair coming out in the shower or on the brush. This unusual shedding will taper off and your hair will be back to its pre-pregnancy thickness about six to 12 months after you give birth.
Not all women notice dramatic changes in their hair during pregnancy or the postpartum period. Among those who do, it tends to be more obvious among women with longer locks.

Re: Hair Loss
This is happening to me now, I have to clean and HUGE wad of hair out of the drain after each shower. Luckily, I have very thick hair so it's not noticable. For me at started around 3 mos PP. I've heard it's very normal and will stop, soon I hope....

Re: Hair Loss
Good god - I lose so much hair already and I haven't even had a baby yet - I will certainly be bald one day if this is what happens.
