hair washing issues...
DD gives me the HARDEST time when i try to wash her hair... she SCREAMS bloody murder, splashes me and soaks me, lunges out of the tub and cries.. does anyone else go through this??? what do you do??? i try to make it fun like a game and explain to her that it is no big deal... i have tried getting her those things for her to wear on her head so no water gets in her eyes.... ive tried getting her to lean back while i carefully pour the water on her hair.... nothing helps most of the time.. any advice would be appreciated
ETA she is 4.5 YEARS OLD! with long hair!

Re: hair washing issues...
One of my friends gave me a really cool rinse pitcher that has one rubber side to put against the forehead while you are pouring the water out. So far, I haven't had any problems with water sliding down into my DD's eyes. I've seen them at BRU. Maybe that will work?

We still have issues. I give the choice between a bath & a shower. I also give her a washcloth to hold over her eyes. Seems to help a little.

Re: hair washing issues...
NoNo started having major issues with hair washing a few months ago. My resolution was three fold. He gets to wear snorkling glasses in the tub while I do his hair - he pretends that he is exploring. We also have a set number of times I can pour water over his head. He has short hair - so 3 is sufficient before shampoo and 3 more after shampoo. He counts out the cups of water and knowing when it is ending gives him some relief. Also - if he is really good in the tub during the bathing/hair washing time, he gets an extra 5 minutes to play in there with his toys.
When Robbie was smaller and had a small issue with me washing his hair, the solution was simply to let him dump the first cup of water over his head AND the last cup. I also had to have a hand towel at the ready so he could IMMEDIATELY dry his face.
HTH!

Re: hair washing issues...
I DID the exact same thing everytime my mom washed my hair at the same age......she was so rough that I was terrified to go near her, or at least it felt that way...
Ya know what helped? My dad would wash my hair. Our sink was at the end of a long countertop and I would lay on the counter with my head in the sink with a washcloth over my eyes, and Daddy would wash my hair....
I'm not saying go that extreme, but maybe someone else could wash it for a while, maybe she's just got it stuck in her head that it's the same routine, same person.....I dunno.......

Re: hair washing issues...
I actually don't really dump water over DS's head - I wet it and rinse it by just using drenched washclothes. Of course his hair is short, but I'm sure you it would just take longer for longer hair - but feasible
