I think you could also put a painting/artwork on the wall opposite the toilet.
A bright color would pop - something like a bright yellow flower or something.
Also like the idea of white canisters but wanted to throw this out there too.

id get some nautical prints for the walls
with the frame the same wood as your cabinet, and the matting in white to pop against the walls
something like this :
