Half Marathon ladies Oct 1 or Oct 2
How are you training for the next week and a half? I did 5.5 today, will do 4 on Friday, 9-10 on Sat... and then not sure what for the last week.

Re: Half Marathon ladies Oct 1 or Oct 2
I am not 100% sure, but this is what I am thinking:
I did 3 Monday, 4 today, 3-4 Saturday, 8 or so Sunday, 4 Tuesday, 4 Thursday, and that might be it...

Re: Half Marathon ladies Oct 1 or Oct 2
Last year I ended up getting hurt or sick the week before both of my half marathons. I think both times I ran about a mile the week before. I ended up running really good times (I was aiming to finish in under 2:15 and I finished the first in 2:09 and the second in 2:07). IMO its a great week to take it easy and do maybe a couple of short easy runs. Training is done.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Re: Half Marathon ladies Oct 1 or Oct 2
I ran my longest run of 11 miles last monday (3 weeks before). Then I got achilles tendonitis, so I only ran 8.2 the following week (2 weeks before) and next week only planning 9-10. I hope it doesn't hurt me that my longest run was 3 weeks before.
So 9-10 on Saturday, maybe 3-4 miles monday, 3 miles wednesday, and just walking Thurs and Fri? (Race is Sat)

No, you'll be fine. You did 8 within 2 weeks, and if you do 9-10, that's more than enough. Some people only train to 10 miles for a half, and I've even completed half marathons very strong with only doing up to 8-9 miles. Plus, it's not just the long run, it's a combination of them and your weekday runs. You decided on Entenmanns over Diva?

I have a half marathon this weekend and I tapered the last two weeks, you should consider doing less! My longest run was 3 weeks ago, a 12 miler. I did 6 this past weekend per my coaches who said to rest my legs!

This is why I am confused! I am seeing people say to taper more, and then Hal Higdon's plan... I kinda did my own thing for training but I noticed it happened to be similar to Hal Higdon Intermediate training plan - which would have to doing 12 miles this weekend, 4 miles tuesday, 2 miles thursday. http://www.halhigdon.com/halfmarathon/inter.htm

Yes I did, I am not going to lie, its because it was $20 compared to $90 to register. I was so nervous to have my IT Band act up again like it did in May when I missed the LI 1/2, so $20 wasn't a lot to risk losing.

The last 12 is probably just more of a confidence booster. IMO, I don't think it's going to make you run a better half. What I typically do is run 6-8 the week before, nothing more than that. Some people do the 12 and are fine, I think it's more of what works for you. Being that this is your first half and any finishing time will be a PR, and you have concerns over minor injuries, I would not do longer than 8 miles. At this point, your training is done, nothing you do in the last week is going to make or break your performance. As far as during the week, just do a couple of easier runs and maybe take Friday off.
Good luck, maybe I will see you there.

Re: Half Marathon ladies Oct 1 or Oct 2
I usually do 12 2 weeks before then the week before I do a 10 miler. However for my first half the longest run i did was 10.5 the week prior. I think you all will be fine! Good Luck ladies I am actually going to run Diva with a friend of mine who is running her first half. I did not register but willl keep her company for about 10 miles!

I'm still undecided since I'm in the height of marathon training and that weekend is supposed to be a really long run. So if I do the Entenmanns, probably won't be racing it all out for time. Not sure if I'm better off just doing the long run since it's tough for me to do a race and not go all out. Will probably make a decision the day before

Would love that, but I'm sure your pace will be way too fast for me, especially since I haven't been doing any races, all sloooow running because of the marathon training. I have the endurance, but probably not the speed right now to keep up
