Re: Hampton Elegance?
Oh geez...Those Hamptonites & their dress codes. Did you google the party from last year to see some pics??? It's probably Hamptons snobbery for "semi-formal" ...Although...Is that the Gala??? It may be fancy then- I'm of no help!
ETA: I found this on Hamptons.com..Sounds fancy after all. Maybe she can email this woman?

Re: Hampton Elegance?
Thanks so much!!!
She was going to wear the gown she wore to my wedding - but was afraid that it would be too dressy since the ticket didn't say Black Tie.
I'm pretty sure my parents go every year - but I think she was thrown by the new term

LOL....I think it means, trying to look casual yet elegant...like when you go to the movie theater on Main St in East Hampton and they are all wearing khakis and a perfect cashmere sweater draped oh so lightly over their shoulders
I guess, trying to look like you threw a few of your best things together so effortlessly!

In my head, I think of J.Crew, Banana, J.Jill, Talbots or Chicos

Re: Hampton Elegance?
Makes me think of linen suits for men, the equivalent for gals I guess. That is a pretty silly, kinda snobby way of stating a dress code I think.

Re: Hampton Elegance?
I'm thinking white, beige or navy blue linen suits for men, linen dresses or short pantsuit for women, or any type of nautical wear (white, navy blue, accented with red).
