Re: Happy V day

I had to give this hilarious update. So like I said my DH and I don't exchange gifts or celebrate, unless we decide to or just surprise one another.

So like I said in the previous post, I went into CVS and bought cards/candies for my DH, his brother and my DS. I met my DH and his brother for lunch today, decided to give my brother in law the gift at the diner. My DH thought it was for him and told his brother "omg she got me a gift". And then it wasnt.. we all had a laugh because DH was butt hurt.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

He knew by then I got him something.

Anyway, he and my son ended up buying me an obnoxious big balloon that sings the song from Greece " You're the one that I want" from Walgreens.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Happy V day

My DH made me a card this year
It was hysterical

Roses are Red
Violets are blue
This valentines days sucks
Because my wife has the flu!!!!

We usually don’t do much to celebrate it anyway but found his homemade card hysterical and sweet (along with a bag of ricolas, box of tissues and some chocolate lol)

DH gets me and DD a chocolate heart -Russell Stover, my FAVORITE- But we can't get him anything- he doesn't eat candy or sugar at all.

I was like- how romantic would beef jerky be for V-day? LOL
A block of cheese?
Stick of pepperoni?
Those are his go to snacks. lol

A block of cheese and stick of pepperoni sound like perfect V-Day gifts to me, lol!!

Sounds good to me! Chat Icon
Unrelated to V-day, I just happened to be eating beef jerky as a snack last night.... Chat Icon Chat Icon

Do you know DH actually bought a food dehydrater so he can make his own jerky?
I shit you not. Chat Icon
He always found a lot of the store bought ones had a lot of sugar in them for some reason- i guess they were cured or marinated in honey, brown sugar, etc.
We can start a business with the amount of gadgets he has!!

Re: Happy V day

So what did everyone get and do?

We had cheese fondue and then watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

I got him a card, two chocolate hearts that I got for free as these women passed them around the mall, and a travel coffee cup. So romantic Chat Icon

I got two boxes of macarons, three bottles of wine, and a plant — all from Lidl (like Aldi). I’m not sure why he even got me a plant. My guess is he went to the supermarket late and that was all that was left (he usually gets me flowers).

It’s fine and we don’t usually exchange gifts, but the plant thing has me baffled. I can’t take care of indoor plants to save my life.

It’s the thought that counts and wine doesn’t hurt Chat Icon

Awww, that's so sweet.
DH was complaining about the cost of cards and I told him to stop buying them. It's ridiculous. That and he always buys me 2.
I'd rather he buy me a bunch of flowers any other day of the year.

We agreed no chocolates this year, but I had already bought him a small bear from Li-Lac. Gave him that with a card from the cat. He got me 2 cards.
I cooked dinner as usual, but surprised him with individual chocolate tarts from Maison Keyser. So worth the WW points.
