Hard wood floors
What cleaning supply do you use to mop them?

Re: Hard wood floors
The Target brand works good and it's all natural - so safe for baby.

Re: Hard wood floors
I swiffer a lot. Otherwise I use regular wood cleaning soap and damp mop.

Re: Hard wood floors
Sorry - this. It is Target's brand of floor cleaner. It comes with a mop - a starter kit. I couldn't find it on the Target website but they have it in the store.

Re: Hard wood floors
I just use warm water on a mop. I was told that after a while you can take the finish off the floors if you use the swifter. Who knows, but I don't want to find out!!

Re: Hard wood floors
My hardwood flooring guy said...
Vacuum thoroughly/swiffer dry
then spray 1 part white vinegar to three parts water onto a microfiber mop til damp and mop the floor. You want barely any liquid on the floor. Standing water/liquid is the enemy of wood.
Completely non-toxic!
I tried commercial cleaners and they leave a film or streaks. Many of them will break down the poly coat on your floor faster.
This question comes up on the home board a lot.

Ok, I need the idiots guide here. How do you clean the mop or do you just spray it once and do the whole room?

I have a microfiber mop with a detachable head. It's flat like a swiffer and velcros on. I spray the mop periodically as I mop. I have a lot of hardwood flooring in my house, depending upon the size of the room, I spray several times.
It's more important to spray several time and keep your mop just damp enough. You do not want a mop so wet you need to wring it out... too much water=damage to hardwood flooring.
When I'm done the mop head detaches and I throw it into my next all-white bleach wash.
