How was it?

This is only the 3rd year, we've been both years - the first one was kind of lame, last year was better. I prefer Seafood Fest and SummerFest, but it's not a waste of time. And the kids seem to have fun... although I'm not sure if it's the activities or just the fact that half their friends are there.

Thank you. Do you mind sharing what they had there? Both of my sons love pirates so I figured they would enjoy being among pirates :). Is there a ship there (they show that in some of the ads). My DHs friend said he went 2 yrs ago and it wasn't good but I'm wondering if we should take a chance. We are in western nassau so it's a bit far if it's really not good

Re: Has anyone been to the Pirate Festival in Sayville?
They have a lot of people dressed as pirates. They sing a lot of silly songs (Shave my Belly with a Rusty Razor) and they do some re-enactments. There are some craft vendors there and food vendors. Kids dress up as pirates and they also have a boat show.
It was pretty lame the first year.. but it had more stuff last year and I'm thinking it will get progressively better as they find their groove, ya know? I vote that you take a trip out early and if you HATE it then you can go over to the ferries and take a trip to Sunken Forest. Or you can take a stroll down Main - go to the Four Star (it's like a REALLY NICE five and dime/home goods store), get some lunch at Crickets or Four Corners, stop in for some candies at the Chocolate shop and walk down to the Marina to play on the playground and sit by the bay. Or just go back a little bit and hit up Robert Moses!
