has anyone bought a house with an above ground pool & had the pool taken out?
DH & I do not want a pool & I'm seeing a lot of homes with them. How much was it to remove & were your taxes lowered afterwards?

our seller took down the pool so i can't give you the cost on that... but our taxes did not go down... wishful thinking!

We had a semi in ground pool in our old house... If I remember it cost about 1200 to remove it and grade it...then the cost to sod. You could probably just put seed down if you wanted.

1200 to remove it is not that bad but sucks that the taxes don't do down.

The town was not aware we had an above ground pool - it was a "gift" in the purchase of the home - no CO for it - it wasn't very big - a 20' round.
I think I paid $400-500 to have it taken down and hauled away. I think the guy gave me a break b/c the sides were aluminum and they could take them in for scrap metal $$.

I thought you did not pay tax on an above ground pool.

I dont think you do.
Also if it is fully above ground you can take it down yourself and then jsut bring it to the dump or just pay for the haul away.

We had a pool but bought a new one. It is so easy to take down. It's the disposal that is more of a prob.

DH's aunt just sold her above ground pool. you might want to try that before paying someone to trash it.

We took one out ourselves. It's easy, the hardest part is digging out the supports.

My husband and FIL took ours out. It took a couple of hours and they hauled it to a metal place and got some money for it. I think $80 bucks but it was something!

Re: has anyone bought a house with an above ground pool & had the pool taken out?
When I bought my house, there was a semi-inground pool in the backyard. It was nice - about 16x32 and a good brand, only a few years old. I put an ad in the local paper and said the purchaser had to take it down and take it away. I got tons of calls the first day - first caller bought it. They did a great job of taking it down and I used the money to pay someone to fill in the hole and grade the yard.

Re: has anyone bought a house with an above ground pool & had the pool taken out?
Our house came with a small above ground pool. It was less than 20' across. We put an ad on Craigslist and had it taken down and hauled away for 150.00. Underneath it was sand so we built our swingset on the spot where the pool was.
