Has anyone bought a refurb cell phone?

Is it really the same as a new one?

Do they wind up being scratched, but work fine?

Any advice?

I bought a blackberry pearl last year. Looked brand new when I got it, and have never had a problem with it.

Refurbished phones are "supposed" to be just rebuilt insides with a new outside. Basically they will take all of the defective phones, find all the parts that are still good from inside the phone, build the insides and then take a new outer shell and put it together. So the phone should not be scratched up or anything like that.

As for whether or not they are good, make sure you put the protection plan or the insurance plan on the phone and you won't have to worry about it. You'll be covered in case something goes wrong with it!

refurb also can mean someone brought the phone and returned. since someone had it, they can't sell it as new.

i have brought several things refurb and i couldn't notice what may of been long and some things were packaged like it was brand new. Sometimes you will get crap...who knows.. if its still returnable and warrantied if something were to be wrong, save a coulpe of bucks and go for it...
