has anyone converted their garage into a bedroom?
we're getting prepared to do just that, nd i was wondering if anyone has any tips, pictures, etc before we start

Someone I know did this and they used electric baseboard for the heating instead of running new vents.

the previous previous owners converted the 2 car garage into a den. it has its own heating (base board) from the rest of the house. i would make sure you get good insulation and new windows.

I would suggest not putting electric heat in the room. Electric heat ends up beign very expensive when you see your bill. I have it in part of one of our rooms and we only turn it one when we have guests and it makes a huge increase in our bills

We coverted the garage in our old townhouse into a 3rd bedroom with a loft.
we kept about 6 feet as a garage for storage.
DH was able to tap into the existing heating/cooling vents and he ran some new electric.
There was a huge standup attic over that garage so he built a ladder/stairs and created a sleeping loft for my son. It was really cool, he was a teenager at the time and it gave him such a big space.
I don't have any pics on this computer though.

We converted a carport into bedroom, full bath and walk in closet. We ran radiant floor heating so we can use every sq inch of space. We used Anderson windows & wood floor.We also installed a nice looking b/r door since the room is right off our kitchen. We did not want it to look like a bedroom was there. Our door looks similar to a french door.
