Has anyone else been following the stories on the Somalia pirates?

I am a news junkie so I've been following this story since the summer. at that point, they had hijacked several ships. but now it's really out of control!

I am fascinated by these pirates and how many ships they have managed to hijack.... despite NATO and US warships present. and this past weekend they hijacked a Saudi owned oil cargo ship with 2 MILLION barrels of oil

according to CNN, they have hijacked 95 ships this year alone!!

the worst part is that these pirates are a part of Al Quaida and have raked in MILLIONS and MILLIONS of $'s in ransoms! that $ is buying weapons, and a LOT of them

I have been following them since last summer when my brother was on a school trip on a boat that went right along the coast of Africa.

My brother said that when they passed the coast of Somolia, they would have to turn their running lights off, and put cardboard in the windows so no light showed from the outside- so they would not attract the pirates.

Scary Stuff!

it TOTALLY pissses me off that they actually get close enough to these ships, let alone TAKE THEM OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

The radio talk show I listen to in the am did a 2 hour segment devoted to this.

I've been following this and it's pretty scary.
