Has anyone ever broken a laptop screen?
What is the best (Cheapest!!) way to get it fixed? Should I bring it to Apple? Should I buy the part online? Should I buy a similar laptop cheap on ebay and just swap screens?
How did you solve this problem?

my DH broke his but it was still under warrenty from Apple so it was replaced. You shold talk to Apple first before buying anything

You should look in the machine documentation too see how hard it would be to replace the screen.
I had a mac laptop at the office, and after using the laptop for 3 days a key broke - I had to send the whole entire laptop back, they would not send me a new keyboard to replace it.
I was not able to purchase a new keyboard either, unless I gave it to a reseller and they handled the part swap - so if that is any indication I'm thinking that the only way you could get a replacement screen without involving apple would be ebay to scavange for parts.

My ibook fell off the couch and hit into the corner of the coffee table and cracked the screan. The warantee did not cover it. I went to the Apple store and they refered me to TekServe (on 18th street i beleive) and they fixed it for me. I paid almost 800 bucks...I was NOT happy.

Sorry to tell you, but when I broke mine it actually wound up being cheaper to buy a whole new laptop.
I didn't crack the screen, but I "dislocated" the screen from the laptop.

One friend spent $700 to get it fixed from Toshiba.
A coworker went on eBay and got one for like $200.
