the house we hopefully will be buying has a large entry way, and the living room is right to the right...kinda an open floor plan..which I like, but I get french doorgasms.

Looove french doors!!

is it hard to do?

if you had it done, was it costly?

More information needed. Is this a front door entrance or a interior doorway you want to build.
Entry doors can be very expensive,
interior French doors are less but depends on the type and quality, if the door is hollow or solid wood.

Re: Has anyone ever put in a french door system?

we just put in 2 french doors to our bedroom. it was $600. we have 2 doors that are 10 panes each. we wanted the frosted glass but that was going to be a customized order and thus 100 more. we ordered it from a lumber store. So that's the range for the price of the doors.... we hired a guy to put them in for us.... so idk how easy it is (we had to have walls built around it too). if you want to see a pic just FM me and ask... ill post a pic of them. they are internal. WE LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!

and since we got the clear glass.... i saw on HGTV they now have these frosted looking sticker things that look like frosted glass... you can even get ones with designs. It's NOT contact paper...... but I guess similar... just looks a lot more like the real thing.
