has anyone ever sold books before?

I have sooo many books at home that i need to get rid of (most are textbooks from grad classes that DH or I have taken) and i want to try to sell them...does anyone know any places that will pay for the shipping that they have tried before and have actually received money for them? I googled it but a TON of sites show up and im not sure which ones are good or not. TIA!

Re: has anyone ever sold books before?

DH tried selling some old textbooks but no luck. He tried the bookstore at the college and a local book store, but neither would take them.

They are still sitting in boxes. I have no idea where else to try.

Ebay? CL?

We sold many books last year at our yard sales. But we wrebt looking ot make that much money on them. We really just wanted to get rid of them. We did hard covers 2.00 a piece and soft cover 2 for 1.00!! We have too many books!! But we sold so many! At the end of the summer whatever we didnt sell we donated to the library.Chat Icon

my mom sells TONS of books on amazon, not to make money but to make just enough to buy news books (so the profit of selling old books pays for her new books, continous cycle)...

DH also--half.com has defintely worked for us. Some books you won't get anything though if they're old...

I use paperback swap for all my novels (hard cover and soft cover). You pretty much list all your books and when you get requests for the books you mail them out (via media mail for $2)and then get credits to request books from other people. I LOVE IT!

Re: has anyone ever sold books before?

I have used half.com, amazon.com and ebay with lots of success. Once I tried a send away service where I sent my books somewhere and they were supposed to send me a check. I don't remember what company it was, but they claimed they "didn't receive" the items. I kept the mailing receipt and confirmation and after threat of litigation received my check. Long story short, even though amazon and half take out considerable $ for commission, at least they are trustworthy.
