Has anyone gone away with a toddler and baby to a resort type of place?
Dh and I are planning a vacation for sometime in Jan. (I know it is far in advance but we just want to get an idea of what we need) and he think we need some sort of Villa or suite. DS will be 21 months and baby #2 6 months. He said we need a kitchen because of the kids because I will need to make their food. Now DS will be eating what we eat an the baby will either be bf or having room temp water for bottles. I think we could with a reagular room. What do you guys think?

you could get away with a regular room...will that be enough space for all of you though?
and washing bottles.....are you ok with doing it in the bathroom sink? That's what I did when we went away and stayed in a hotel. Brought my own Dawn, bottle brush, etc and washed them each night in the bathroom sink and let them dry on the vaniity.
Make sure you get a fridge and a micro, just in case....DC#1 might want a snack or something.

Re: Has anyone gone away with a toddler and baby to a resort type of place?
We just went to Hawaii when DS was about 5 mo. old We actually rented a house and I found that having a kitchen was the best thing to heat food... to have a place for him to eat. Kids also have a lot of stuff which I can say I appreciated the room and so did the baby. I would say it is possible to do it in a regular room but if there is an option for a suite with a kitchen or even check rental properties in the area you plan to visit you may be pleasantly surprised on what you might find -we sure were! It just makes life easier for you especially with 2 kids you will have their food right there with a stove, microwave and fridge... I mean it is your vacation too-think about how you can relax and what makes life better for you and DH! We do a lot of traveling if you have any questions feel free to ask! Have a GREAT trip!!!

Re: Has anyone gone away with a toddler and baby to a resort type of place?
We just went to Puerto Rico and stayed in a condo. He slept in our bedroom, but I was able to put him to sleep and then shut the door and go in the living room. It was GREAT having a kitchen too. I can't imagine staying in one room because what do you do when your baby goes to sleep at 7/7:30? Maybe its just my son, but he wouldn't sleep with us in the room, and he can't have noise at night because he is such a light sleeper. We booked a vacation to Jamaica in April and we are staying in a suite with a living area and bedroom. But I think its just one big room with a partition. I hope it goes well.
I think most places can give you a fridge, especially if it is a place that caters to children. Good luck!!

We stayed at a timeshare and it was great! I liked having the kitchen and a big area for us. They also gave us a highchair and pack n play so I didn't need to bring one.

I agree with Laura. We just came back fro m Hawai'i and DD is 9 months old. We stayed at my SIL's but in a separate house (2 BR / 1B w/a kitchen) on her property. The kitchen was a GODSEND. I believe there is no way you would be able to go away without one. I was washing bottles, washing out DD's clothes when they were soiled (I also used my SIL's washing machine and dryer a lot). It made it so much easier. I could not imagine just having one bathroom sink to use and I have one child. If I had two, I would think I would definitely need a kitchen in my room. Look into renting a house or a B & B with a kitchen suite. It may be cheaper than a hotel resort with a kitchen in a suite.
ETA: We also had a mini fridge in the house. Thank Goodness b/c Grace was getting over a ear infection and we needed to keep her antibiotics cold.

Re: Has anyone gone away with a toddler and baby to a resort type of place?
We went to Jamaica with just 1 child (13 months at the time) and we got a reg. room, and I wish I had gotten something bigger...
His crib took up so much space, and I hated not having a refrig. and space to put all his snacks and things...
We spent way more time in our room than I had expected... but with babies.. you dont wanna keep them in the sun for too long of streches, then they nap during the day, and then everyone needs some downtime..
I personally would get a condo or a villa or something- something with 2 bdrms, or a seperate living room and a kitchen... thats my opinion!

Re: Has anyone gone away with a toddler and baby to a resort type of place?
We mentioned the vacation to my SIL and BIL and we are going together so we are definitly going to get some sort of house with 5 kids total. Also after reading all your posts I didnt think about alot of things so you guys made some really good points. So it looks like we are going to Aruba in Feb. I am so excited plus I think it is a more doable flight for so many children under the age of 6.
Thanks again for your advise

We went to Aruba with DS, we stayed at the Marriott Ocean Club which are timeshares but they do have a regular hotel and they were great to deal with incase you want to look into them.
