Has anyone had the flu this season?
Anything anyone can recommend to help? I am miserable, and have been for a week. I feel like someone punched me in my sinuses, and my muscles in my legs ache so much I can barely walk.
Other than doing the obvious (Tylenol, decongestant, liquids, soup, etc.), any tips on either beating this more quickly, or surviving while having it?

Re: Has anyone had the flu this season?
Someone told me that there actually is an antibiotic they can give that is effective against this season's flu. It apparently cuts your sick time in half.
Sorry I don't have any other info on it, but have you called your doctor?
Feel better soon!

Thanks...When I looked online I saw that the drug must be taken within the first 3 days of the flu...At that point I was still hoping it was only a cold! I'm about 6 days in now, so too late for that...I was wondering if there was anything the dr. could do, or if I shouldn't even bother.

Oh, I didn't know that. I'm sorry!
Could you call the doc and ask over the phone what he or she thinks??
I'm sorry you're suffering -- no fun being sick at all!!

Re: Has anyone had the flu this season?
This has been a bad flu season, and the flu shot they gave out this year was against the wrong strain so it's not doing anything for people who got it
The best thing to do is just stay hydrated, rest, take tylenol/advil and let it run its course.
I don't know much about that flu medicine, other than most doctors I know won't prescribe it because they don't think it even works, and it could have bad side effects in some people. I don't know the details on this, other than them saying that they are not giving it out.

Thanks! DH and I both got the flu shot and it seems to have done nothing...He woke up this morning with a fever and the same symptoms I started with. Thanks so much for the advice; I'm not going to bother going to the doctor and just hope it passes soon.

Re: Has anyone had the flu this season?
have you seen the doc?
A lot of peeps have gotten sick this season, but not all have been with the flu.
I was sick for a week, wasn't the flu.
DH was sick for a week and it wasn't the flu.
It sure felt like it.
I was vaccinated, DH wasn't
We both got antibiotics. We were feeling better within 3 days.

You could go to the doctor if you are still not feeling well after the weekend. This flu is horrible, you feel like you are going to die!! I had the stomach one that was going around about christmas time, the one that is going around now is different, but people are just as sick with body aches, headaches and fever.
