Re: Has anyone here done domestic adoption?
My friend just adopted her son through adoptions from the heart.

I know she would be willing to talk to you if you want me to share contact information.
Her son was an emergency placement on March 17th.

Re: Has anyone here done domestic adoption?
Domestic Adoptions often involve the birth mother knowing the adoptive parents and in some cases the adoptive parents seeing the baby being born. I adopted internationally but I know my agency Wide Horizons for Children in Oyster Bay does domestic adoption as well.
I think the most important part of domestic adoption is understanding that the birth parents chose the adoptive parents and you need to understand that different states have different laws that you need to be aware of.

Re: Has anyone here done domestic adoption?
A Good friend of ours did twice. Her kids are 11 and 9 now. She placed an ad in the paper both times with an 800 number. She was lucky and choosen quickly both times.
My cousins SIL has been trying for a while now. I guess its been about 2 years. She wants a newborn ( has been offered older children)...she has met a few moms ( not too many ) and has not been choosen. She uses an agency based in Queens I think? I can find out who it is.
ETA- As my mom was a foster mom for so long, I do know plenty of foster care placed adoptions. Thats what me and Danny are going to do once we are financially able....but again, not too often is it a newborn...

Re: Has anyone here done domestic adoption?
I've mentioned it here before but my best friend adopted her daughter from Utah. She was a newborn when she got her. Flew home to NY with her at 4 days old.
If you want me to get her agency info, let me know. Once she started with the agency, it was six months until she had her daughter in her arms. One thing she suggested is to follow up with them as often as possible so you're on their radar.

She did need to put a color dossier of information, photos, etc for the agency. She also opted for UTAH because they terminate bio rights sooner than most states.
If you need me to ask her for the agency info, FM me.
