Has anyone hired a professional organizer for your home?
I'm pretty sure I need some help in this department. Any feedback? Worth the money? How do the fees work? Is it hourly or by the job?

Re: Has anyone hired a professional organizer for your home?
Yes I did and it was the best money I ever spent! I had her come 2 days after we moved into our new house and she really did a great job and I have been able to keep it up. In general I like things organized but everyone had a room, closet , some place that you don't know how to organize and for me it was my guest room closet. I keep the stuff I need but hardly use in there. She really helped to break everything down. She even helped with the kids toys and the garage. My DH found her on an organization association website.

This sounds wonderful! We just moved and I need some organization in my life! I have a few questions -- you an FM if you want! TIA
How long was the process? How much was it? Do you have her contact information?

Re: Has anyone hired a professional organizer for your home?
I am also curious about this -
Does the organizer go through your house to evaluate and then give you a plan of what to do (use this closet for this, put this stuff here), or does she actually execute the plan with you and physically help you organize the stuff, so that when she leaves, everything is done?
Or is there an option for both levels of service? For example, I know with home stagers, you can do an initial consultation during which they make recommendations, or a more in depth service where they actually furnish the space, paint, redesign, etc.
I definitely need some help! My DS's playroom alone makes me

Re: Has anyone hired a professional organizer for your home?
Haha I'm a bit nutty-I can't function without order, so I make sure I don't have to.
What area are you looking to organize?
As for running things, I have a cleaning schedule. While I wipe down the kitchen every night and do dishes, I also focus on one room each day/night to give it a bit more of a cleaning-although it only takes 15 minutes or so. Then I have a rotating cleaning schedule for Saturday, where I do a VERY deep clean of one room/area of the house.
Meals are planned with the grocery list on Thursdays for the following week, and I grocery shop/run errands either Fridays or Saturdays.
My biggest thing is putting things back where they belong. Once you start to leave things out instead of putting them away it becomes a habit and things will pile up.
I love organizedlikejen and homeorganizing on youtube for videos of organizing spaces, and a bowl full of lemons is a great organization blog.
Any specific areas you have trouble with?

Yes! My closet! I have very little storage space so my closet is a mess!
I'll definitely check out those blogs and videos. Thanks!
