Has anyone taken the steroid prednisolone

Just wondering what side effects you experienced and anything else you can tell me about it.

i'm on it often - i usually do 4 weeks on, 2 weeks off, repeat (100mg).

i deal with:
hot flashes
increased appetite
immense swelling/bloating - like 30lbs
hair loss
headaches
moodiness
itchy palms

and those are my just my main side effects.

I hate this drug, but it really helps my chronic hives.

Yes, I was on it last week for a ear/sinus infection. It made me feel better within hours and gave me more energy, but the side effects were keeping me awake at night and uneasy stomach (could have been from antibiotic too). I only took it for a few days.

I took it for a few months a few years ago. I experienced mood swings, heart burn, insomnia, weight gain & bloating. It was lovely.

I also recall that it's very important to taper off per doctor's orders and not just stop taking it. I think it took me at least 2-3 weeks to wean myself off it.

Ive taking it numerous times over the yrs for strep throat, bronchitis, and i just took it while pregnant 2 mos ago for a rash. I must be one of the few that had ZERO side effects. I didnt notice anything out of the ordinary.

I just stopped taking it and man oh man this stuff horrible

Severe bloat
Lightheaded to where I thought I was going to pass out
Headache
Diarreah

I just never felt like myself

i've taken it on and off my whole life due to asthma. i was just on it a few weeks ago. it ALWAYS helps when i'm having a severe attack. the worst side effect i have is horrible sweating! whenever i take it, it's the same, i start having hot flashes every afternoon. they are terrible but worth it to be able to breath

I have taken it many times as I am an asthmatic. I am surprised at all of the negative effects. I guess I am lucky. Once in awhile I feel wound up from it and have a harder time sleeping but aside from that I hsave no other problems with it.

DD was on it a few weeks ago for the first time and she had nop issues from it.

I might need to go on it for a blood disorder that I have and I also read that it can cause blood clots, which scare the heck out of me.

I've taken it a few times when I'm really sick and I never have any side effects but I've never taken it for more then a week or 2

My mother on the other hand had to take it for years before she received her lung transplants. It really was the only thing keeping her alive so she had no choice but it did a lot of damage to her. it did a lot of bone damage, she had to have her router (sp?) cuff replaced because it ate away at that, she has a hole in her liver from it and a few other things.

But she was able to stay alive until a transplant was available, so for her it was worth it and an end was in sight.

For me I was starving all the time

But the big one, when I had a larger dose, was slepping. I was swaeting all night long, even though it was cool in the room. At its worst I had to change nightgowns 2X's a night.

So for me:
Sleeping (sweating)
big apetite.

I had to take it twice for a hives outbreak.

It made me insane, the dr even said not to make any big decisions while on it! I could not wait to get off of it.

Like the poster above said, you must take it as prescribed and use the step down process like they suggest.

I have to take it 2-3x a year for nasal polyps.

As others have said, it's not a walk in the park. Especially when it's combined with really strong antibiotics that make me loopy.
