Has anyone taken the train from Penn to Giants Stadium?
I am going to U2 on Thursday night and I am wondering if it is mad house leaving there on the shuttle buses to sycuacus.
Can anyone shed some light on the logistics of this and if it is worth it?
On the way back we'd have a mere SIX minute to switch trains in sycaucus to get back to Penn at a decent hour.
I need to know if this is feasible.
TIA

Re: Has anyone taken the train from Penn to Giants Stadium?
Im not familiar with taking shuttles from giants stadium to seacaucus junction, but i stop there every morning on my way into penn station...theres almost no one there in the station..and this is at 7:45 in the morning. And when i've stopped there at evening rush on the 4:36 train..again..not many people there.
its a newly built station that no one seems to use but they make a lot of the express trains stop there i guess b/c they spent all this money..LOL.
so if you're worried about crowds, i would say you should be ok in the station. again, im not familiar with actually getting to the station via shuttle.

Re: Has anyone taken the train from Penn to Giants Stadium?
I just went to the Jets game on Sunday and it was a complete mad house to get on the train. We didn't take the train but we parked right by it. Coming out of the stadium and seeing the amount of people online was insaine. I think it took well over an hour to clear everyone out. Trains were running non stop. The only reason I know this is because we stayed for almost 2 hours after the game. Truthfully I can only imagine how bad its goign to be for a concert.
Good Luck!

Oh stinky. We're doing this tomorrow night for U2 as well. Oh well, I guess we'll just be prepared for long lines and a wait. I think I'll tell my boss I'm coming in late Thursday!

We got a hotel room at the Sheraton Meadowlands for this very reason for Thursday night.
I believe they run extra shuttles / trains when there are events, though. The LIRR web site might have more info.

We did it for ACDC back in July. It wasn't that bad. They fill the train up, take it Seacaucus and then you take the train to Penn. The trains don't follow a schedule like normal trains do, but after a long concert, it def wasn't bad.

Re: Has anyone taken the train from Penn to Giants Stadium?
We're doing the same thing. DH said the concerts run till about 11pm. In order to make an 11:42 train on the PJ line, we have to take a 11:09 train from Secaucus to Penn.
I don't think it's going to happen.
So we will be sitting in Penn station from about midnight till the next train at 1:37am.
If anyone sees us in Starbucks, come over and say hello!

Re: Has anyone taken the train from Penn to Giants Stadium?
I have a friend who took the train recently. She said it wasn't that bad. The last time I drove to Giants stadium, it took me almost 4 hours total to get home. SO I will be taking the train tomorrow night.
