Has anyone told you a story that you just don't want to hear while prego because it scares you???

My BF just wrote to me telling me a story of what happened to a guy she knows who's baby passed at 3 months and they don't know why. I'm sorry ..but while it is VERY sad...I don't like hearing things like this...they really scare me..and I wrote her back telling her it's sad..but honestly I don't like hearing things like this..especially while I'm pregnant. Was I too harsh??

Absolutely Not!!!! We have enough worries of our own that we dont have to her those types of stories..... Its amazing what people think they can say to you while your are preg.

Yes - all the time.

A girl my mom works with lost her baby at 40 weeks two days ago. My mom is now asking me 100 times a day "Do you feel the baby" -- It is driving me crazy and I know that she is just paranoid also - but - I don't want to live the next ten weeks being completely paranoid that something is going to happen. I'm paranoid enough as it is!

Not at all! I wouldn't want to hear that either. Before I was pg I heard a really horrible story (I won't repeat it) but I've thought about that story a few times and it scares me to death, that something like that could happen and that person was just left to deal with it. All I can do is pray that we all have happy healthy babies and nothing ever harms them!!!

ughh i also have had people tell me horror stories, dont people realize that you are so nervous as it is and obviously know what bad can happen...we really dont need to have others reiterate it

Yes I hate it! I've had the same co-worker tell me things more than once and I'm just like shut up!!!! You weren't too harsh at all!

I just don't listen to anyone anymore. I believe that everyone's experience is different and the way that we all handle pregnancy/labor/delivery/parenting is all different and while I respect that I don't want to hear other people's horror stories!

Not many people know I am PG yet, but from the poeple who know, I get all the people telling me how "lucky" I am.

Like this:

Oh, you are nauseous all the time. Well, at least you can hold down some food.

or

Oh, you need a C-section. At least you don't have to go into labor like my friend so and so who ended up having C-section after 3 weeks in labor.

I also get:

Maybe you'll be like me. I only gained 2 lbs the whole time.

Yes - I hate those stories - I try to avoid them - my favorite were everyones horrific birth stories....

YEs!!! one of my co-workers told me a very sad one the other day and i've been thinking about it ever since.
not even going to repeat it, so sad.
