Has anyone used an attorney to look at a severance package?
I got laid off on Tues. I was given a severance package and it says to have it reviewed by a trusted 2nd party. When I google severance packages it says to contact an employment lawyer to have it reviewed.
Has anyone been in this predicament and used an Atty. Any recommendations? How much does it usually cost. I'm out of my league here so any advice would be great.

My co worker's brother in law looked it over when I was laid off. I don't think it is necessary if you think it's fair. DH did not have anyone look at his.

Honestly, it's typically not worth it. They are usually standard. The company is asking you to waive your right to sue for any reason and giving you money in exchange. They don't have to give you anything.
I would make sure it matches your company policy. You should be treated the same as others in similar circumstance and job type.
Sorry this happened. Best of luck to you. Somethings these moments push us in a better direction, even if you can't see what that is right now

This. Unless you have an extenuating circumstance or feel you were treated unfairly, then it's likely everyone got the same standard package and there's nothing you can do about it.
In my case, I was laid off at 9 months pregnant so I had an attorney negotiate my package. I got something above and beyond the rest of my team who was laid off. But that's only because I was in my last few weeks of pregnancy and obviously could not look for a job then or even for a few months afterwards.
