I haven't used/seen this one but I think it's perfect??? The blurb says you can use it with a straw - and that is good for speech development. Basically avoid anything with a spout - hard or soft. Shane's EI teacher basically told us that they should be banned and you want to get them on a straw sippy as soon as possible after the bottle!

I think this one is great but really I would recommend any sippy that is a straw sippy only. I agree with Colette, also coming from someone who's DS is receiving speech EI and is working on his oral motor development because he was tongue tied until the age of 1. The straw forces them to use their tongue and purse their lips in such a way. This cup would do the same.

I used all different kinds of sippys (spouts, no spouts, straws, no straws) with no issues. You're LO isn't late to get off bottles at all. We dropped them (cold turkey) at 17 months. A few months after I did drop the spout type sippys for the recessed sippys because it was more like a regular cup. My DD is 2 now and she still uses her sippys even though she can drink from a cup just fine...........sippys are just easier a lot of the time.
Edit - Playtex makes "Coolster Tumblers" which have the recessed lip for drinking and they are insulated. I love them. Target and BRU has them.
