Has anyone with curly hair had a keratin straightening treatment?

I am so sick of my hair...have had the same style (give or take some layers) since I was 13. I am also sick of the high-maintenance and loads of products needed to tame my curly hair....I am so envious of those with straight hair. I talked to my stylist today (who has the same hair as me) and she tried to talk me out of it, saying that it will be really hard to get back my curls once I get the treatment done. I don't want to make a huge mistake, but I am ready for a drastic change. Does anyone have experience with the keratin treatment? I have a consultation in person with my stylist on Tuesday where she is going to try the treatment on a small piece of my hair to see how it takes.

my boyfriends cousin has really curly hair and just got it done

her hair is still curly - but when she blows it out- it stays straight and takes her 20 mins

in my experince- hair stylist tend to fear any straightening product they don't do themselves

my hair has been JHS for 7 years- I have gone to all the top LI and a few NYC salons and they are always shocked when I tell them my hair is straighten

if you got Japanese- your curls might not come back- I don't think mine would

but my hair is such a frizzy mess- I would rather not even try

I HAD super super curly ringlets. I have been blowing out my hair for a few years now, b/c I was sick of wearing it curly. Last year I got the Brazilian treatment and it is not as nearly as curly. Its super easy to blow dry and hardly any frizz, but I wouldn't say it is curly anymore. I know this isn't what the treatment is supposed to do, but I think its a combination of the treatment and constantly straightening it.

I have very curly, ringlet, border line nappish curls, and every stylist I've spoken to has talked me out of it saying it will never be curly again. They scared me straight. :) So I've given up on my JHS dreams, have accepted my curly hair and when I want to occasionally have it straight, I pay for a blow out. Best of both worlds. I would say stick to the curls, unless you are ready for a permanent change !

I have had the BKT done 4 or 5 times now and It has definitely relaxed my curls but they are still there. I like them better now....its more of a softer curl than the tight ones before.

I had gotten the bkt done a few times over the last 2 years (haven't had it in almost a year now) and my hair is very very very much indeed curly.

The Brazilian deal is just temporary. It may seem like your hair is less curly because it is healthier and you probably haven't been having to use as many heat products and therefore doesn't curl as much. That being said, after a year of not having any treatments my hair is back to its super curly state and slightly healthier.
